Herblore

This guide is intended for iron accounts. For the regular guide, see here.

Guide

This guide is designed to provide you with a path to complete all quests while avoiding early or long skilling grinds. It will include some notes for efficiency where it will save you time later to do certain actions during quests. For example, completing Diary tasks, gathering items, and completing other quest steps while in the area. Following the guide fairly closely until the completion of Holy Grail is recommended, as the early path is quite optimised for completing quests together in the early areas, skipping early combat training and unlocking some useful transportation options to make future activities easier.

This guide puts most lamp rewards on Herblore whenever possible, as this is generally the slowest skill to train as an ironman due to difficulty obtaining the ingredients. Any experience lamps or books of knowledge received through random events may also be used on Herblore Herblore. The questing order assumes that you have followed the advice on experience rewards exactly for the sake of unlocking the next quests in the list. You may need to do additional training or skip certain quests if choosing another skill to lamp.

While following this guide, also consider what other activities you might want to do alongside it depending on your goals. Skills like Farming Farming and Hunter Hunter in particular are usually trained at set timings alongside other activities, and as such may be trained to a higher level earlier than the guide suggests. Prayer Prayer will make certain quests easier if trained earlier for protection prayers, and Herblore Herblore gives you access to potions. Agility Agility gives you the largest benefits at early levels due to run regeneration. For most skills however, skipping early levels through quests will be faster than early skill grinds, as you won't have access to the fastest skilling methods. When Slayer Slayer is trained on the side, it is recommended to use Konar as soon as possible, due to the possibility to loot Magic logs from the Brimstone chest, these are required for Desert Treasure I.

When doing skilling grinds outside of this guide, keep in mind what quests you may be able to complete earlier for useful unlocks. For example, training 49 Firemaking Firemaking earlier will allow you to complete Tears of Guthix earlier, which provides the player with a short minigame that will reward experience points in their lowest skill once a week. You may also prioritise quests that give experience in the skill you are planning to grind, which will allow you to skip slow early levels. For a useful list of quest experience rewards see here.

Gaining access to transportation methods will allow you to complete many quests faster. This guide prioritises unlocking the Ardougne Cloak 1, spirit trees, fairy rings and gnome gliders early as these provide you with free teleports to multiple useful locations. It is also useful to gain access to transportation methods outside of completing quests, such as minigame teleports. New players on a budget may use games necklace(8) to teleport around or for access to a bank.

The Ironman guide is a good place to find general tips for activities, money making, and unlocks to prioritise.

Notable quest unlocks

The quests below list some of the more notable unlockable content, teleportation methods, equipment, and locations. The quests below are not listed in any specific order.

Quests with the highest skill requirements

Questing Order

This list does not include suggestions for combat levels. Boss fights might prove to be very challenging to do with the stats listed here. Always make sure to train up your combat stats to a level at which you're confident you can kill or survive dangerous parts of the listed quests.

This guide will not mention all tools required to complete the quests. Make sure to stock enough common items, like ropes, buckets, pots, etc. If you encounter other useful tools like moulds, axes and fishing equipment make sure to bank those as well. Have a look at tools page for a useful list.

Hover over a skill reward in the "New levels after finishing quest" column to see the exact total experience in the listed skill after completing the quest.
