Jekyll and Hyde is a random event in which Dr Jekyll appears and urgently asks the player for help. If talked to, he requests a clean herb of the player (grimy herbs do not work). If the player has a herb in their inventory, he will take it and give them a potion, but if the player has no herbs he will give the player a strength potion (2) before disappearing. He will not accept noted or unclean herbs.

The potion Dr Jekyll awards depends on the herb the player happens to be carrying. If the player has multiple herbs, Dr Jekyll will request the highest level herb.^[1] If the player is not carrying a herb, it is possible to bank and then speak to Dr Jekyll again; he will change the requested herb to the herb the player is now carrying. Dr Jekyll will not recognise huasca as a valid herb, and will act as if the player had no herbs at all, and not take it from the player.

Ironmen who are looking to get stamina potions but do not have a torstol in their inventory when the random events spawns, can use Minigame Teleport to Giants' Foundry and use the bank within the foundry to give Dr Jekyll the herb without having him despawn.

• The event is a direct reference to the mystery novel Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. It is about a doctor who created a potion, splitting himself into two distinct personalities. He existed as the kind, gentle Dr Jekyll, and the fearsome, malevolent Mr Hyde.
• When the random event occurs underwater, Dr Jekyll appears wearing diving gear.
• Prior to the update to random events, if ignored, Dr Jekyll would turn into Mr Hyde (level 14-159, depending on the player's Combat level) and attack the player with melee. If killed, he would drop a potion, similar to if he was given a herb. However, sometimes he dropped an empty vial. Killing him could sometimes be more profitable than giving him a herb, as he could possibly drop a super restore potion (4).
