A strange plant appears as a random event, where it will start growing near a player. The player must wait until the plant is fully grown before they can pick the strange fruit. The player can pick the fruit or ignore/dismiss the plant.

Previously, the plant would attack and poison the player if ignored for too long. However, since the Optional Randoms update, the plant will simply disappear if ignored or dismissed.

The strange fruit picked from the plant restores 30% of a player's run energy when eaten. It can also be used to cure poison and venom. Upon eating the strange fruit, players will receive the message, It tastes great, some of your energy is restored!

If picked with a full inventory, the fruit will be placed on the ground instead. Fruit dropped in this way will take three hours to despawn, and it is only visible to the player who picked the plant.

• The strange plant's appearance is likely a reference to the triffid, a fictional walking carnivorous plant from the novel The Day of the Triffids.
