The Ruins of Uzer are all that remain of the former city of Uzer, an ancient city in the Kharidian Desert that was destroyed during the God Wars.
Transportation
Necklace of passage to the Eagle's Eyrie — just north-west of the ruins.
Fairy ring DLQ — just south of the ruins, near the desert lizards.
Nardah teleport — Nardah, south of the ruins.
Desert amulets — Temple of Elidinis in Nardah.
Pharaoh's sceptre — Jaleustrophos (Simon Templeton's camp), well south of the ruins.
Construction cape — Pollnivneach house portal.
Players can take the magic carpet ride from Shantay Pass to the ruins after completion of The Golem. Note that, unlike on the world map, the destination for the ruins of Uzer is simply labeled as "Uzer."
History
The following lore is sourced from Letter (The Golem), the Varrock Museum, Varmen's notes, and The Confession of Ellemar.
Uzer was once an advanced civilisation, inhabited by magical craftsmen who created and used golems. According to carvings on the temple, the citizens of Uzer worshipped multiple gods, but were ultimately aligned with Saradomin.
Towards the end of the God Wars, Thammaron, Zamorak's chief lieutenant, opened a portal underneath the temple and bypassed the city's defences. After a second attack the city crumbled, but not before an elite force of golems managed to raid Thammaron's lair, mortally wounding him. The survivors of the battle then fled south, to the city of Ullek, before it too was destroyed by Zamorakians under the command of Balfrug Kreeyath.
Later, a group of explorers from the Dig Site found the remains of the temple, taking one of its statuettes in the process to put in a museum. After finding a heavily-damaged golem that had remained in the ruins (the sole survivor of the previous assault), an adventurer later took the statuette from the museum and returned it to the Uzer temple. The temple was also later used by a group of fanatics to summon a demon, undoing the efforts of the mage Ellemar to weaken the demon Agrith Naar.
Locations
Ruins
The ruins of various buildings and kilns are in the vicinity of the temple, the later of which were used to manufacture golems. The last remaining golem and the entrance to the temple are all that remain above the desert sands. It is here that players start The Golem quest.
Temple
Underneath the city lies the temple basement. To the east of the entrance black mushrooms spawn, while in the north-west one can find a strange implement. Statues of craftsmen adorn the halls while golem pieces litter the ground. A few ghosts lurk in the hallways. At the far end lies a portal to Thammaron's realm.
