The pharaoh's sceptre is a polestaff found during the Pyramid Plunder minigame in Sophanem, from the golden chests and sarcophagi. It requires 30 Attack and 30 Magic to wield.

The sceptre provides teleports to each of the great pyramids of the Kharidian Desert, using a charge to do so. By default, the sceptre holds three charges. Players who have progressed in the Desert Diary have their sceptre hold more charges; up to 10 with the easy diary, 25 with the medium diary, 50 with the hard diary, and 100 with the elite diary.

It is one of only a few teleports that work up to level 30 Wilderness, while most other means of teleportation will not work above level 20 Wilderness.

Teleportation options

A player using the Pharaoh's sceptre teleport.
Destination Map
1. Jalsavrah, the Tomb of Kings. Teleports players to the starting lobby of Pyramid Plunder.

This is the default teleport destination if the player has never used the sceptre before.

2. Jaleustrophos, the Tomb of the Agile. Teleports players by Simon Templeton's camp.
3. Jaldraocht, the Tomb of Magic. Teleports players to the pyramid entrance.
4. Jaltevas, the Tomb of the Father. Teleports players next to the obelisk in the necropolis.

Players must commune with the obelisk with the sceptre in your inventory before being able to teleport here. The sceptre does not need to be charged for communing to unlock the teleport.

Recharging

To recharge the sceptre, the player must talk to the guardian mummy inside Jalsavrah, the Pyramid Plunder pyramid. The mummy will complain about the player owning the sceptre, but will recharge it anyway.

The player must give the mummy either 6 Gold artefacts, 12 Stone artefacts, or 24 pottery/ivory artefacts to fully recharge the sceptre. Different shaped artefacts may be combined as long as they are all the same material, and noted artefacts are accepted. It is recommended that the sceptre's last charge be used to teleport to Pyramid Plunder for recharging, as it is a fairly lengthy trip to return there without a teleport.

By default, the sceptre is recharged to three charges. Players who have progressed in the Desert Diary have their sceptre recharged with more charges; up to 10 with the easy diary, 25 with the medium diary, 50 with the hard diary, and 100 with the elite diary.

The following table shows recharge costs for each individual artefact according to Grand Exchange prices and compares the value of artefacts when sold to Simon Templeton. Note the items within the same artefact class may be combined to satisfy the required count.

Simon's purchase price may be useful for ironmen when comparing which artefacts to save for charges. As a general rule, using Gold artefacts are the most costly options.

Artefacts can be noted when recharging the sceptre.

Obtaining

Pharaoh's sceptres are a very rare reward received from the golden chests and sarcophagi during the Pyramid Plunder minigame. The chance of receiving a pharaoh's sceptre scales depending on the room. When a player finds the sceptre, they are immediately ejected from the pyramid. If the player had no free inventory space when they found the sceptre, it will appear on the ground under them when they are outside the pyramid.

The original pharaoh's sceptre is now discontinued:

  • All variants of the pharaoh's sceptre that existed prior to 27 April 2022 have had all their interface options replaced with a "Convert" option, which replaces it with a reworked version of the sceptre.

In addition:

  • The sceptre can now be uncharged by players rather than needing to visit the guardian mummy to do so.
  • The sceptre can now be charged by the guardian mummy at any time, rather than only being able to recharge it once all charges are expended.

Trivia

  • If the player talks to Simon Templeton while holding a sceptre, he will try to convince them that it is worthless and will offer 100 coins for it, which the player refuses.
  • When someone else in the pyramid finds a sceptre, an annoyed guardian mummy appears in some rooms next to the golden chest noting that someone has stolen it.
  • Before an update, the sceptre was commonly used by lurers due to having a teleport as its left click option. Lurers would tell the player to switch to a PvP world and "wield" the sceptre, where they were then teleported into a pvp zone and killed for their loot.
