The enchanted lyre is acquired in The Fremennik Trials quest. It is used in the quest to perform in the longhall to get Olaf the Bard's vote for the player to become a Fremennik. The lyre can be made by using an axe to cut a branch from the swaying tree east of Rellekka, and then using a knife on the branch to obtain an unstrung lyre, then attaching spun golden fleece. This part needs 25 Fletching. Alternatively, players may receive one as a drop from Lanzig, Borrokar, or Freidir in their huts in the south-eastern area of the village.

A player plays the lyre to teleport to the Fremennik Province.

After the quest, the player can enchant their normal lyre into an enchanted lyre by charging it with Fossegrimen to be used as a teleport to Rellekka. When the hard Fremennik Diary is completed, the enchanted lyre can also teleport to Waterbirth Island, and gains the ability to teleport to Jatizso and Neitiznot after completion of the elite Fremennik Diary.

If the hard or elite diaries are not completed, the left-click "Play" option has no effect, and the item must be right-clicked to teleport.

Charging

A player has their lyre enchanted by Fossegrimen.

The lyre is enchanted by offering raw large fish to Fossegrimen's altar south-west of Rellekka. Players may offer a raw shark, raw manta ray, or raw sea turtle to receive two, three, or four charges, respectively. If players equip a ring of charos(a), they can give Fossegrimen a raw bass and explain that it is really a small shark, and she will recharge the lyre with two charges. Upon expending the last charge, the lyre will revert to its unenchanted form. Players can only charge an unenchanted lyre.

When the easy Fremennik Diary is completed, Fossegrimen will give an extra charge in addition to the offering given.

Note: The lyre can only be charged with one fish at a time per dialogue and can not be charged if there are any charges already.

Imbuing

After completion of The Fremennik Trials, players can imbue their lyre into an enchanted lyre(i), which contains infinite charges, by offering Fossegrimen a one-off offering of 1,000 raw sharks, raw bass, raw manta ray, and raw sea turtles, costing 2,350,000 coins. The Fossegrimen will accept both noted and un-noted offerings, and they can be given in increments; she will inform players of the remaining amount required to imbue the lyre. One way to obtain these raw fishes without buying them from the GE is by participating and earning the most points in both the Fishing Trawler and Tempoross minigames.

The offering cost will drop by 200 raw fish of each type for each tier of the Fremennik Diary completed. However, she will not return any fish once a higher tier of the diary has been completed.

If lost, it can be re-obtained by going to Fossegrimen and clicking "Summon" on the altar with a lyre in inventory. Players do not have to pay the fish cost again if they have already paid it once before.

After completing The Fremennik Trials, you may now enchant your Lyre from Fossegrimen for permanent lyre teleports for 1,000 Raw Sea Turtles, Raw Manta Rays, Raw Sharks and Raw Bass. This drops by 200 for each Fremennik diary completed, however, she will not return any fish once you've completed a higher tier of the diary. Trivia

  • During the quest, playing the enchanted lyre causes your character to sing a solfège scale, "Doh Ray Me So. Fah La Ti Doh." The spelling and order differ from the usual "do re mi fa so la ti do", which swaps "so" and "fa".
  • If you complete this quest and have one or more skills at 99 you will see a different song displayed "When people speak of training, Some people think they're fine. But they just all just seem jealous that My ( insert name of skill here ) 's ninety-nine!
  • The colour of the lyre's middle section changes according to the colour of the player's default boots, and thus can be changed by visiting a makeover service. The variants are shown below:
