The Old School RuneScape soundbank is a bank of instruments that the game uses to play Music. It was introduced on 6 March 2007, letting the game's MIDI audio sound consistent across all systems regardless of the sound card being used.
The soundbank allows for the addition of new instruments, as featured in The Fat Lady Sings and Boss Moosic. These are commonly backports from RuneScape 2 additions. Music tracks can also play sound effects separately from MIDI audio, such as in Nora's Broken Record (Grim Tales).

Percussion
The second bank consists of percussion kits. Rather than one instrument being applied across all notes, typically one percussive instrument is mapped to a single note. The majority of these share the same mapping rather than the Roland kits they are based on.
