The small pick is a quest item found during The Fremennik Trials quest. It is found while searching Peer the Seer's house while trying to solve his challenge to get his vote. The small pick is the real red herring as it serves no purpose during the quest. Players using the pick on the locked chest will get the message, You might be able to break the chest open using this pick... ... if you stood here tapping at it for twenty years or so. In addition, players who use the pick on the vase will get the message, This pick wouldn't be strong enough to break the vase open.
