The 1/3rds full jug is a quest item in The Fremennik Trials quest. It is made by using a full jug on an empty bucket, then filling up the jug again and pouring it into the bucket. Using it on a 3/5ths full bucket makes the 4/5ths full bucket needed to advance the quest.
