The ring of life is a diamond ring that has been enchanted with Lvl-4 Enchant. While worn, if the wearer is attacked and has 10% or less of their Hitpoints remaining, the ring automatically teleports the wearer to their respawn point. The ring crumbles to dust after one use. A Defence cape can be worn for the same effect, which does not destroy itself on activation. An Escape crystal can be configured to provide the same effect and more.

The ring does not guarantee total safety, as a player wearing one will still die if they are hit from above 10% of their maximum Hitpoints to zero (for example, being hit 15 while at 15 hitpoints), and it will not cure poison. Self-inflicted damage, such as guzzling a dwarven rock cake or using a locator orb, can also activate the effect. If it is worn along with a phoenix necklace, the necklace effect will trigger first. In PvP, the Tele Block spell will prevent a player's ring of life from activating.

It is one the few items whose teleports will work up to level 30 Wilderness, while most other means of teleportation will not work above level 20 Wilderness.

In Wintertodt, the ring will activate if warmth drops below 10%.

Upon the completion of medium Ardougne Diary, the teleport destination can be toggled to East Ardougne.

A ring of life is a reward from the The Lost Tribe quest.

When the ring of life effect procs, a player wearing the ring of life will be teleported and the following chat message will appear: Your Ring of Life saves you and is destroyed in the process.
