Goraks are aggressive monsters found in the Gorak Plane (fairy ring DIR) which attack with typeless melee that also drains stats. They are typically first encountered during the Fairytale II - Cure a Queen quest, where they are slain for their claws to make the magic essence potion. Several goraks can also be found in the God Wars Dungeon. Outside of Zamorak's Fortress, goraks are never tolerant towards the player, regardless of how much time players spend in their range. Wearing a Zamorak-affiliated item while in the God Wars Dungeon will override their natural aggression.
Goraks roll the gem drop table 100% of the time after players have killed at least one gorak in the Gorak Plane. This makes them one of the best monsters to kill for the shield left half, with a drop rate of 1 in 244 (while wearing a ring of wealth) while having Legends' Quest completed.[1] Players hunting for the shield half are also suggested to bring a gem bag when staying for long periods, as goraks drop uncut gems extremely commonly.
The Goraks constantly draw the life essence from any living being they encounter,[2][3] as well as the world they live on. In doing so, they have effectively trapped themselves on this small plane,[4][5] leaving what's left of it noticeably warped.

Strategy
Because goraks use typeless melee, Protect from Melee will not prevent or reduce damage. Additionally, for every successful hit they make, a random stat of the player (excluding Hitpoints) is drained by 1-4. As such, armour with high crush defensive bonuses is recommended.
If a gorak successfully hits the player while any protection prayer is active, a message will appear in their chatbox saying "Your protective prayer doesn't seem to work!"
A safespot is available in the Gorak Plane where goraks can be trapped on the southern walls of the inner ring. To set it up, lure the southern gorak spawn to the east side of the southern‑most inner wall, ensuring you never step south of the tiles directly beneath that wall. Once the southern gorak is in place, two additional goraks from the central area can be pulled and trapped on the western side of the same wall.
Do not kill the gorak lured to the east; if it respawns, it will appear in a position that can reach the player and break the safespot.
Players with lower defensive stats may wish to bring food, as it is difficult to avoid taking damage while luring the southern gorak.
Drops
The gorak drop table is very unusual. In most situations, goraks will always give a roll on the gem drop table instead of their more expansive table. However, goraks will drop from the full gorak drop table if the player has never killed a gorak in the Gorak Plane before, or if the player is in the middle of doing an uninterruptible action (such as using a ball of wool on your cat or teleporting). These rules also apply to goraks in the God Wars Dungeon or Wilderness God Wars Dungeon.

Trivia
- Goraks could formerly be assigned as a Slayer task exclusively by Duradel after gaining access to fairy rings, though they were removed from his task list in an update on 10 September 2015. Despite this, goraks are still shown as Slayer monsters when casting Monster Examine on them, and the corresponding Slayer task tip is still referenced in the game's code, which states "Goraks are extremely aggressive creatures. They have been imprisoned on an alternative plane, which is only accesible by using the fairyrings. Be extremely careful, their touch drains health as well as skills!"
- The unique drop mechanics of goraks may be due to a programming error which causes the initial 1-128 drop roll to be overwritten by the 1-3 roll for the gorak's claw drop.[6]
