Monster Examine is a lunar spell that requires 66 Magic plus the quests Dream Mentor and Lunar Diplomacy to be cast. It costs 1 Mind rune, 1 Cosmic rune, and 1 Astral rune to cast and grants 61 Magic experience per cast. There are a few monsters in the game which can not be examined by this spell.

Casting this spell on a mountain troll south of Mount Quidamortem is a requirement for the hard Kourend diary.

Trivia

  • Following Nex's release, bosses may not have their stats visible when Monster Examine is used on them. This was confirmed by Mod Kieren to be intentional to add an element of mystery to the bosses.[3] The spell was re-enabled in the game update two weeks later.
    • The Forgotten Four later had this apply to them, but only partially; their combat levels and offensive bonuses could be examined, but not their defensive ones. A week after their release, their defensive stats could be seen.

If popular it may be something we do with future bosses too."
