Astral Contact is a magic spell that allows players to talk to various NPCs around Gielinor without having to visit them directly. It is part of the Lunar spellbook. As with all Lunar spells, the quest Lunar Diplomacy must be completed to cast this spell. When the spell is cast the runes are spent, experience is granted, and an interface will open showing various NPCs the player may contact. When one is selected the NPC is contacted.

Players can use a right-click option on the spell's icon in their spellbook to re-contact the NPC they last contacted through this spell.

Some of the NPCs might have additional requirements (such as quest completions) for you to contact them. They will show up as a grey outline if they can't be contacted.

If you gain access to the Lunar spellbook through having auto-completed Lunar Diplomacy in an event such as Deadman Mode or a League, the spell still has a direct requirement of 65 Magic and 40 Defence.

This spell can be cast while running, so long as the last player input was a Red-X. This allows for efficient use of time during repeated Runecraft runs, as there's no extra downtime spent contacting the Dark Mage (Abyss) to replenish Essence pouch charges.

Note: Using Astral Contact to contact a person you need to speak for a clue requirement does not advance your progress in the Treasure Trail. You must speak to the person through normal means.

Amy	Mahogany Homes	Can be contacted to receive a new construction job. If she was the last contacted NPC, an additional "Last-tier contract" option will be available on the spell's icon to obtain a job of the previously-done tier.

Random NPCs

Random will contact any of 26 other NPCs around Gielinor, and appears not to be "random" in that it cycles through 26 different NPCs, most of which are just amusing. The spell may start going in order randomly or just jump around. Using Random requires completion of Dream Mentor. These NPCs are:

	Lumbridge Guide	The player calls him a bad boy and makes the Lumbridge Guide admit it, but he doesn't say what he has done.
	Wise Old Man	The Wise Old Man will attack the player (not hurting them) and tell them to get out of his head.
	My Arm	The player asks how the Goutweed is, OR he tells the voice in his head to go away.
	Hans	The player pretends to be a brave knight coming to "kill everyone in the vicinity of Lumbridge Castle."
	Evil Dave	The player tells him they are Zamorak.
	Clay golem	The clay golem believes it has a perception mismatch, as he can hear the player but can't see them.
	General Wartface	The player contacts Wartface, and he gets into an argument with Bentnoze.
	Drunken Dwarf	He's drunk.
	Al Kharid Camel	The player taps directly into the camel's mind, removing language barriers.
	Sandwich lady	The Sandwich Lady does not want the player that contacted her to ignore her.
	1337mage43	1337mage43 argues with the player over who cast the spell.
	Osman^[d]	The player makes fun of Osman, and he thinks he may be hallucinating from sq'irks.
	Helpline Assistant	A typical call to the Lunar Communication Helpline, with extremely poor customer support as usual.
	Father Urhney	Father Urhney believes the player is Saradomin and asks for advice, then goes off to meditate on what it means.
	Romeo	Romeo attempts to recite a love poem to the player.
	Blurberry	The player prank calls him.
	Aris	Aris can tell the future, thus knowing what the player will ask.
	Ali the Sandsweeper	He claims he is Ali the Sandsweeper, the best sandsweeper there is.
	Man	He says he's on the toilet.
	Party Pete	He says "party" in every sentence. He tells the player that partying is a full-time profession.
	Bob the Cat	He has a hairball. After Dragon Slayer II, he will not appear when players cast the spell toward a random NPC.
	Captain Cain	He tells the player to "Drop and give me twenty!"
	Homunculus	It claims that the Alchemists returned the other day, and it turned them into animals. OR Nothing useful said.
	KGP Agent	It thinks that the voice in its head is an intruder. OR it talks in a series of code phrases that the player doesn't understand.
	Lumbridge Cow	It pretends to not understand, but eventually tells the player to leave it alone.
	Lumbridge Sheep	It does not seem to understand. It just "baa's".

^ During While Guthix Sleeps, Mazchna is temporarily replaced by Achtryn, but otherwise retains the existing dialogue.
^ Krystilia can be called via Astral Contact only after she assigns the player their first Wilderness slayer task.
^ After the events of While Guthix Sleeps, Cyrisus's chathead will be greyed out and selecting him will result in a chatbox message saying You take a moment of silence in honour of your fallen friend, Cyrisus.
^ After completion of Beneath Cursed Sands, Selim will be contacted instead of Osman. The actual conversation however remains almost the same.

Animation override

*Leagues V - Raging Echoes* spell animation

An animation override is available for Astral Contact, unlockable via the Raging echoes astral contact scroll. Players can apply and revert the animation override at any time via the "Animation" menu option on the spell's icon.

Trivia

If attempting to contact certain NPCs whilst near them, they will give a variety of humorous responses. However, this does not work whilst being next to Bert, as the area "next to him" assigned by the spell is actually in the centre of the Dragon Inn just south of Bert's house.
The player will spin to face the NPC that is being contacted, much like one does when interacting with the NPC normally. This effect works over any distance, including inside underground areas or instances. The faced direction for non-overworld maps will indicate the relative direction between the current mapped area and the area where the NPC resides.
During While Guthix Sleeps, after contacting Aya, Achtryn, and Kuradal, the right-click option to re-contact will still show Turael, Mazchna, and Duradel, respectively, however, using the right-click option will correctly contact the replacement Slayer masters.
