Death Charge is a spell to restore special attack energy within the Arceuus spellbook that requires level 80 Magic and the completion of A Kingdom Divided to be cast.
Cost
Effect
Casting Death Charge will restore 15% of the player's special attack energy after they dealt the killing blow to any monster within one minute after casting the spell. However, the special attack energy is restored only once per cast. Death Charge can only be cast once every 60 seconds. Casting the spell while fighting a monster does not interrupt combat.
Killing a monster while the player's special attack bar is already at 100% will trigger the active effect of the spell without actually restoring any special attack energy.
The restoration effect of Death Charge will not trigger if the player has been involved in PvP combat in the last ten ticks.[1] The player must also be within 16 tiles of the slain creature in order for Death Charge to activate.[2] In a multicombat scenario, the restoration effect is triggered for the player who dealt the last hit.
Not all monsters (or other attackable targets) can trigger the effect however. These monsters (or attackable targets) will not trigger the effect:
- The unstable ice blocks formed by Amoxliatl
- The Moons of Peril
- The Nightmare's (and Phosani's Nightmare) totems
- The Boulders dropped by Ba-Ba when a health threshold is reached
- The Jugs used to clear poison during the fight with Zebak
- The obelisk and Energy Siphons during the fight with the Wardens
- The Glowing crystal during the fight with Vasa Nistirio
- The Great Olm's left and right hand
- The respiratory systems during the first phase of fight with Abyssal Sire
- All Sea creatures
Upgrade
The spell can be upgraded by reading a rite of vile transference, available as loot from opening dossiers, which are in turn a drop from Yama. The rite is untradeable, so players must fight Yama in order to obtain it; it is guaranteed to be obtained from the next dossier a player opens after reaching at least 100 victories against him, however. Players can opt to hold off on opening dossiers until they reach 100 victories, since the dossiers are bankable.
After reading the rite, Death Charge is permanently upgraded to restore 15% special attack energy from two targets per cast (while still retaining the one minute expiration timer), and the skull is changed to a red colour.
