Red-X is a method by which players are able to prevent movement of monsters while standing underneath them. Clicking to interact with an object, such as clicking on a dropped item, an NPC, or a piece of scenery or object with an interaction, creates a Red "X" on screen which causes different NPC behaviour than clicking elsewhere in the game world. If a player is standing underneath a monster while in combat with them (have recently attacked said monster) and their most recent interaction with the game was a Red-X action, then the monster in question will not attempt to pathfind to the player.

The method allows players to preserve supplies against bosses that can only attack players in melee distance, such as General Graardor, K'ril Tsutsaroth, and Ba-Ba. It can also be used in the Fight Caves or the Inferno under certain niche situations to enable clearing with lower stats than would otherwise be possible.
