Watson is a Treasure Trails expert who lives in Hosidius. He can be found in the large, fenced-in house west of the Forthos Ruin. Players can trade him one each of easy, medium, hard, and elite clue scrolls to receive a master clue scroll/master scroll box. He will not accept clue scrolls that are still in a box, they must be opened first. Sherlock skill challenge scrolls may also be given to Watson. Trading in one of each of these clue scrolls for a master clue scroll yields an average profit of −57,328 coins (when including the possible master clues as rewards from the lower-tier clues). While there may be a loss on average, the time saved from doing a single master clue versus one of each of the traded in clues can be significant, and the chance at obtaining the Bloodhound pet is exclusive to master clues.
If you are holding an unfinished master clue in the bank, Watson will hold onto all 4 clues you have given him until you have finished or discarded the master clue you are holding. The player may also use the Astral Contact spell to check which types of clue they have given to Watson.
Players can receive additional clues of the same type as clues they currently have stored with Watson.
Watson's House has an upstairs portion that contains the Strange Casket which is used to fight The Mimic.
Watson's house also contains a noticeboard where players can view a list of the STASH units they have built and/or filled. For a fee of 500 coins, one can buy a blueprint so they can build a STASH unit tracker in their player-owned house's Study, which works just like Watson's noticeboard.
He owns a bloodhound named Gruff McScruff.
Transportation
- Using a Watson teleport is the quickest way to get here.
- Use the 'Lunch by the Lancalliums' - Hosidius option on the Kharedst's memoirs or Book of the Dead, and run south-west.
- Use of the Lovakengj Minecart Network to the Hosidius West stop.
- Use the spirit tree from the Hosidius spirit tree patch.
- Use the Kourend Castle Teleport from the standard spellbook, and run south.
- Use the Xeric's Glade option on the Xeric's talisman, and run north-west over the bridge, then west to Watson's house.
- Use the Woodcutting Guild option on the Skills necklace, and run north.
