The Sailing cape is the Cape of Accomplishment for the Sailing skill and can be purchased for 99,000 coins alongside the Sailing hood from Brass Hand Harry at the Pandemonium, by players who have achieved level 99.

Like all skill capes, the Sailing cape gives +9 to all defensive stats, and also a +4 bonus to prayer if it is trimmed. The cape is automatically trimmed if a second skill is levelled to 99.

The Sailing cape has the perk that allows players to rename their boats without needing to visit Sleve McDichael. Unlike Sleve, the Sailing cape allows the player to choose what name they wish to give their boat, instead of being given a random name.

The cape provides unlimited teleports to the player's boats, provided a greater teleportation focus facility is installed. Furthermore, it provides unlimited teleports to the Pandemonium for both players and boats without requiring a teleportation focus, though players must disembark before teleporting their boat and any cargo in the hold will be lost in accordance with restrictions set by the Summon Boat spell.

This item can be stored in the cape rack of a costume room, as part of the Sailing cape set, along with the hood. Ultimate Ironmen will be unable to retrieve individual pieces until the full set is stored.

As of 1 August 2026, there are 94,045 players that have achieved level 99 in Sailing.

• The design of the cape was the result of a design contest, followed by a poll to determine the final design. The design by GentleTractor (design D) won, gaining 31.9% of the total votes. The other entries, in order of popularity, were:
  • Design C by NaleeK (25.3%)
  • Design A by Kijkwijzer (23.2%)
  • Design B by JackScape (19.6%)
• The first player to achieve level 99 Sailing was AsianGrinder on 23 November 2025.
• The Sailing cape emote is the first to utilise the Z-buffer, allowing the player to spin around the crow's nest without it rendering through the player.
• The Sailing cape emote forces the player to face south afterwards. No other emote does this.
• The Sailing cape emote was first teased in the Alan Walker x Old School RuneScape pre-release collaboration music video, and can be seen at the very end of the video in which Alan Walker's character performs a version of the emote while wearing the cape.
