The lunar staff is a magic weapon and piece of lunar equipment, requiring 65 Magic and 40 Defence to wield. It is created during Lunar Diplomacy by using a dramen staff on the air, fire, water, and earth altars (in that order). This cannot be done after Lunar Diplomacy is completed, however.

As an enhanced dramen staff, the lunar staff can similarly be used to access Zanaris and the fairy ring network. This can be done even before completing Lunar Diplomacy if the player retrieved their staff back from the Oneiromancer, or if the player made copies and gave one of them to her.

While it has slightly better stats than the dramen staff, it also has a slower attack speed, making it generally a worse melee weapon. Notably however, the lunar staff provides +3 prayer bonus, while the dramen staff provides no prayer bonus.

As with all lunar equipment, it is always lost on death, even though it is an untradeable item. Priestess Zul-Gwenwynig won't recover the staff if the player dies with it while fighting Zulrah. For this reason a dramen staff is often preferable.

If the player loses their staff, they can obtain one from the Oneiromancer for 30,000 (or for free if lost before the quest is completed); this requires a seal of passage or completion of the elite Fremennik diary otherwise the player will be teleported off the island. Players may also obtain a replacement staff from Perdu for 60,000.
