A mud battlestaff is a mud elemental staff which provides unlimited amounts of water and earth runes as well as the autocast option when equipped. It requires 30 Attack and 30 Magic to wield.

The mystic mud staff is an even stronger alternative, providing better melee and magic stat bonuses. It is obtained by taking the mud battlestaff and 40,000 to Thormac. (Reduced to 30,000 or 20,000 with completion of the hard and elite Kandarin diaries respectively.)

Wielding a mud battlestaff is ideal for curse spells, as almost all of them use both water and earth runes.

The staff is only obtainable as a potential drop from Dagannoth Prime. For ironmen unable or unwilling to farm this boss until (and if) the staff is dropped, there are two alternatives in order to have infinite water & earth runes at the same time: using an earth staff with a Tome of water that is charged with at least one soaked page, or a using a water staff with a Tome of earth that is charged with at least one soiled page. Given that only combat spells drain charges from the tomes, the staff + tome combo will provide unlimited water and earth runes when casting spells such as Bones to Peaches or Lvl-5 enchant (e.g. for training Magic at the Mage Training Arena) without the need for recharging the tome.
