Ferox Enclave is the restored remains of the Carrallanger fortress, once part of the Zarosian Empire before being abandoned and left to decay over the ages. It has since been transformed into a safe haven for travellers by Ferox, a former Zamorakian acolyte seeking knowledge to uncover the history of the Wilderness.
The town is a safe area within the Wilderness, meaning players cannot kill other players while within the boundaries of the town. Due to the nature of the Tele Block spell, Ferox does not allow players who have had it cast on them to enter the town through the town's barriers until the spell has worn off, though players may still enter whilst in combat. Outside of the town by each entrance, there is a semi-safe-zone area immediately outside the barriers where (under normal circumstances) players cannot be attacked.
While you are tele-blocked, you cannot attack anyone by default. However, anyone within your combat level range is able to attack you in this "safe" zone. You are able to retaliate against them if this happens. While tele-blocked, someone attacking you will not prevent them from re-entering Ferox Enclave, provided they are not tele-blocked themselves. Getting a skull via tele-blocking a player, followed by intentionally dying to get rid of it afterwards, will cause the tele-blocked player to gain a skull themselves if they attack you, as well as being able to attack you "without" retaliation.
The town is home to Clan Wars and Last Man Standing, as well as portals to Castle Wars and Death's Office. There is a chapel with an altar and the Pool of Refreshment which restores the player's hitpoints, stats, prayer points, and run energy (but not special attack energy).
Players who have paid Ferox 5,000,000 coins can set their respawn point to Ferox Enclave, by the eastern barrier.
Transportation
The level 13 Wilderness obelisk is east of the Enclave. There are also a few safe methods of reaching Ferox Enclave that do not require players to traverse the Wilderness:
- A ring of dueling will teleport directly here.
- Minigame Teleport to the Last Man Standing and Clan Wars minigames.
- Exiting the Castle Wars area in a free-to-play world.
- Using a waka canoe along the River Lum to row here (requires level 57 Woodcutting).
Features
Ferox Enclave is home to refugees and travellers seeking sanctuary in the harsh climate of the Wilderness. As such, followers of various religions appear to tolerate each other's presence within Ferox Enclave; for example, Lisa and her wizards are Guthixian followers, Andros Mai and Sister Scarophia are Saradominist followers, and the Acolytes are Zamorakian followers.
In addition, the aesthetic of the buildings are of various religions as well; the Clan Wars building contains both Saradomin and Zamorak colours (blue/white and red/black carpets, suits of armour, and flags), the Last Man Standing contains Guthixian colours (green flames and barriers), while the chapel's altar, dedicated to Zaros, is maintained by Sister Scarophia, a Saradominist.
There are several features found within Ferox Enclave:
- The Clan Wars and Last Man Standing minigames can be played here.
- The Castle Wars portal on the eastern side of the Last Man Standing building leads players to Castle Wars.
- The Free-for-all portal on the western side of the Clan Wars building leads players to the free-for-all area of Clan Wars.
- A chapel containing an altar and Pools of Refreshment.
- An entrance to Death's Office can be accessed outside the chapel.
- A pub named The Old Nite, as well as the caves accessed via the pub.
- A canoe station can be found on the eastern end.
- Adventurers should note that travelling to the canoe station requires a Waka canoe while travelling from the canoe station can be done with any canoe, unless travelling deeper into the Wilderness.
- A dungeon with a portal to Soul Wars can be found at the north-eastern end.
- A Bounty Hunter portal leading players to Daimon's Crater (the player must be on a Bounty Hunter world).
Bank
A banker and bank chest can be found on the western end. The bank is frequently used as a quick bank to a teleport location, in this case for the Ferox Enclave teleport option on the ring of dueling. The bank is just a few tiles away from the stat and Prayer-restoring amenities, making it a great way for players to quickly restore everything except their special attack and then re-gear for another trip.
There is also a loot chest, which player-killers use to cash in loot keys from players they killed.
Exterior
A few notable features can be found nearby outside of Ferox Enclave.
- Just south of the east entrance is a Wilderness Obelisk in level 13 Wilderness, which can be used to teleport to any of the other obelisks across the Wilderness.
- An altar can be found to the east.
- To the south-east of the Enclave, an unnamed tower with four levels can be found.
- This tower can be used to evade an opponent in PvP scenarios by climbing up the ladders.
- Additionally, a lift platform is located next to the tower's entrance, which can instantly take players to the 3rd floor; however, it is one-way only.
