Typebuilding

The Demonic Ruins, originally known as Annakarl during the rule of Zaros, is a ruined fortress that is located in level 44-48 Wilderness. Players within range of the ruins will have their Prayer points passively recharged. As with all locations in the Wilderness, players can be attacked by other players at any time. The entire area is multicombat.

The ruins are notable for being the only place to find greater demons on free-to-play worlds. All four demons are level 92.

Burnt bones also spawn in various places around the ruins, and members have a singular blood rune spawn on the eastern side.

Transportation

  • The Annakarl Teleport spell (or its tablet equivalent) can teleport players directly to the ruins. (Needs the completion of Desert Treasure I)
  • The level 50 Wilderness Obelisk will also teleport players reasonably close.

Both of these teleports are members-only.

Prayer restoration

The 24x32 Prayer restoration area

The Prayer-restoring area effect is active within a square around the ruins, pictured above. Standing inside this area will restore 1 prayer point every 5 game ticks (3 seconds). When the player is in range to recharge Prayer, a message in the textbox will appear reading A dark and ancient energy is emitted from the ruins granting you faster prayer restoration..

Players can take advantage of the prayer restoration of the ruins by bringing prayer gear, allowing them to use prayers that drain their prayer points slower than the area effect restores them. However, demons are far enough apart that players will be spending plenty of time out of combat, making this almost always not worth it.

(Update)

A mysterious force around the Demonic Ruins recharges your Prayer slowly.

Trivia

  • There was once a bug where the Teleport to Target spell could cause players to get stuck under a pile of burnt bones, at which point they could not perform any actions. This has since been fixed.
  • The location was historically used by clans, since the area is in the deep Wilderness and is multicombat.
  • During the RuneScape 2 beta, the blood rune spawn in the ruins was accessible to both members and free players.
