The Troll Country is a region in north Gielinor. It is a mountainous area controlled mainly by trolls. It is characterised by its harsh and unwelcoming environment, with hostile troll throwers and, further north, freezing temperatures. The major settlement in Troll Country is the Troll Stronghold, where the bulk of the region's mountain troll population lives. There is also the notable ice troll settlement of Weiss. The climbing boots are frequently used when traveling through this region.

History
Ancient History
The first recorded history of the Troll Country dates back to the Second Age, when the region now known as The North was occupied by the Zarosian Empire.[1] Ghorrock was a Zarosian settlement and fortress within the area, and the Mahjarrat, then in the service of Zaros, established the Ritual of Rejuvenation at the Old Shrine at its centre.[2]
During the Third Age, the God Wars and collapse of the Zarosian Empire forced some of Zaros' followers to take refuge in the Ghorrock Dungeon. Among them were various refugees, the Mahjarrat Mizzarch and Jhallan, and Duke Sucellus.[3] Ghorrock itself was largely destroyed, leaving only a smaller fortress on the surface and dungeons beneath,[4] while Zemouregal's Fort survived after Zemouregal joined Zamorak.
In the later years of the conflict, a group of Saradominists lured Nex into the Temple of Lost Ancients.[5][6] Centuries later, a battle began over control of the Godsword[7], eventually trapping several armies in the God Wars Dungeon, where they continued fighting into the present day.[8][9]
After the God Wars ended, Duke Sucellus believed himself destined to restore the Zarosian Empire and began consuming the refugees to increase his power.[10][11][12] Mizzarch and Jhallan evacuated the dungeon and sealed it behind them, leaving Sucellus trapped inside.[13]
Modern Day
In the Fifth Age, the region consists of several Troll and Ice Troll inhabited settlements, caves, and mountains. During the Fifth Age, a group of ice trolls led by Mother established the village of Weiss after having been driven out of the Keldagrim caves.[14]
At some point, Gnome explorers such as Brambickle were sent out by King Narnode Shareen to scout the Trollweiss Mountain.[15]
At an unknown point late in the Fifth Age, a war began known as the Burthorpe - Troll Country War between Burthorpe and the trolls of the Troll Stronghold and Death Plateau.[16][17] The war and its various skirmishes continue to this day.
