Romeo & Juliet

This quest has a quick guide. It briefly summarises the steps needed to complete the quest.

Romeo & Juliet is one of the original six quests released with the launch of RuneScape Classic. The quest roughly follows the storyline of the tragedy of the same name by William Shakespeare.

Romeo can be found in or near Varrock Square. Speak to him, and he'll ramble about his love for Juliet. Ask him if you can help, and he'll ask you to talk to her in her mansion.

Go and talk to Juliet, located on the upper floor balcony of the mansion directly west of the Varrock west bank, just outside the western walls of Varrock. She will give you a letter to give to Romeo. Go back to Romeo at Varrock Square, and deliver the letter. If you cannot find Romeo, he may have wandered inside the general store located south of the square.

After delivering the letter to Romeo, he will despair upon learning that Juliet's father opposes their marriage. He suggests going to Father Lawrence for help, who is located in the Varrock church north-east of the square. After speaking to Father Lawrence, he will suggest that you fake Juliet's death by giving her a cadava potion to appear dead, so that Romeo can later collect her from the crypt. He will ask you to go to the Apothecary who will be able to make one for you.

Note: You can save some time by having the cadava berries required for the potion in your inventory before speaking to the apothecary. Consider also picking one extra for the quest Making Friends with My Arm. Ironman players are recommended to grab some redberries at the same time as the cadava berries, for use in later quests.

The Apothecary can be found in south-western Varrock located west of the Varrock Swordshop, in a building with a purple potion icon. Speak to him about the quest (selecting 'Talk about something else' first) and he will ask you to bring him some cadava berries to finish the potion.

Cadava berries can be picked from several bushes just west of the south-east Varrock mine. Return to the Apothecary with the berries and he will give you the cadava potion. Be careful not to drink the potion yourself, as this will cause the player to black out for a short amount of time.

Now, head back to Juliet, and give her the potion. You will now see a cutscene of her "dying", though she really falls into a coma.

Go back to Romeo, and tell him that he must rescue Juliet from the crypt. He needs someone to accompany him, which ends up being you. You will now see another cutscene of you entering the crypt with Romeo. When he sees Juliet's cousin, Phillipa, he forgets all about Juliet and falls in love with her.

Completion of Romeo & Juliet is required for the following:

• Making Friends with My Arm
• Defender of Varrock

• Multiple cadava potions can be obtained by dropping the one that's in your inventory and asking for another, though this item has no use outside of the quest.
• If you talk to Draul Leptoc, Juliet's father, while carrying the cadava potion, he'll notice it and mention it in his dialogue.
• If you talk to Juliet again after the quest, she will seem fed up with Romeo. If you speak to Romeo, he will still be mistaken about Juliet's "death," and will pine after Phillipa.
• 'Draul Leptoc' is an anagram of 'Lord Capulet', Juliet's father in the original Romeo and Juliet.
• Romeo & Juliet was removed from RuneScape 3 on 21 September 2010 and replaced with Gunnar's Ground.
