A mind shield is an upgraded version of the elemental shield, offering an additional +3 magic defence bonus over the latter. It is made during and after the Elemental Workshop II quest in the elemental workshop dungeon.

Making the shield requires 30 Smithing, a primed mind bar, a hammer, and a slashed book in the inventory. Right-click the "Smith" option on a workbench in the elemental workshop to smith the shield, which grants the player 30 Smithing experience. Equipping a mind shield requires completion of Elemental Workshop II.

Warning: When attempting to smith a mind shield, having a beaten book, but no slashed book, will automatically create a mind helmet, not a mind shield.

A mind shield can be used as partial protection against the icy breath of skeletal wyverns and wyverns. When worn, it reduces the maximum damage of wyvern icy breath attacks to 10.
