The witchwood icon is a piece of Slayer equipment used to decrease the effectiveness of the screams of Cave horrors found in the Mos Le'Harmless Cave. The icon is worn around the neck and requires a Slayer level of 35 to equip, although players must have 58 Slayer to be able to kill cave horrors.
If the icon is not worn, the special scream attack from cave horrors is guaranteed to deal 10% of the player's total Hitpoints. Wearing the icon does not negate all damage from the scream, it instead causes the scream attack to roll as a regular attack. Jungle horrors do not use the special scream attack, as such, the icon is not necessary to fight them.
It can be purchased from any Slayer Master for 900 coins but cannot be traded with other players. The Slayer Masters created these from witchwood trees, an extinct species of tree that once grew in Gielinor.
Protect from Melee also provides complete protection against screams, serving as an acceptable substitution for the icon.
