Walkthrough

Searching for Zanaris

The start point.
Items needed: A woodcutting axe

Head to the north-western edge of the Lumbridge Swamp, just south of Draynor Village, where you will find an adventurers' camp. Ask the warrior why he is camped out here, and he will let it slip that he is searching for Zanaris. Ask who's Zanaris, and he will also let it slip that Zanaris is actually a hidden magical city. Finally, after asking him how he plans to find it, and then observing that it looks like he doesn't know, he will accidentally reveal that there is a leprechaun hiding in a nearby tree who knows how to get to Zanaris.

Look for a nearby tree that only has a "Chop" option instead of a "Chop down" option. Chop it and a leprechaun named Shamus will pop out. Shamus will mention that the player will need to visit the shed in the swamp; ask him how Zanaris fits in a shed, and he will tell you that the doorway is a portal. However, to enter the portal you will first need a Dramenwood staff, crafted from a Dramen tree, found only in the Entrana Dungeon.

"Chop", instead of "Chop down."

The island of Entrana

Items needed: A knife
Items recommended: Runes, a teleport, Food, and a prayer potion if necessary
Skills needed: Woodcutting 36 [boostable] to chop the Dramen tree

Monks of Entrana do not allow armour or weapons on Entrana, but you can take:

The route on Entrana to reach the dungeon.

Head to Port Sarim and find the Monks of Entrana, south of the Rusty Anchor Inn on the second jetty. Use the nearby bank deposit box to store your axe if you still have it, and any other gear that violates the restrictions of Entrana. Speak to one of the monks to travel to Entrana. On arrival head east around the church, then north over the bridge. West of the bridge you will find a cave monk next to a dungeon entrance.

Note: When you enter the dungeon, your Prayer will be reduced to nearly 0. Make sure not to have crafted any weapons before climbing down the ladder, or you will be kicked off the island.

Climb down into the dungeon, and kill the zombies (level 25) until one of them drops a bronze axe. There is a safespot by the mushrooms against the west wall, and another by the small group of mushrooms in the southern part of the zombie area.

Note: If using the Crumble Undead spell to fight zombies, make sure to save runes for 20-30 casts against the Tree spirit later.

Once you have obtained an axe, head south through the cave until you see some greater demons and a small cave off to the south.

Warning: Do not go through the magical door to the east, it takes you to level 32 wilderness.

Run past the demons to the south, and chop the Dramen Tree found inside (Woodcutting 36 ) - a level 101 tree spirit will appear.

Fighting the tree spirit

Skills needed: Crafting 31 [boostable] to craft a dramen staff
The Dramen tree.
Entrance to Zanaris.

If using Magic or Ranged, you can utilise a safespot by cutting the tree from the south, then running inbetween the three mushrooms to the south-west once the tree spirit spawns.

Warning: The tree spirit will respawn after cutting the tree again if you kill it from outside of the room.
Note: Rings of recoil can be used and other players can assist in the kill, but the questing player must deal at least 1 damage themselves for the kill to count.

Once you've defeated the tree spirit, cut the tree again to get a Dramen branch, then use a knife on it to make the Dramen staff (Crafting 31 ).

Tip: A dramen branch is required for the Freeing Sir Amik Varze subquest of Recipe for Disaster, and another is useful for the smuggling into Thorvald's trial in The Fremennik Trials, but do not make them into staves yet. Cutting at least three branches is recommended.

Teleport out and head to the tool shed in the centre of Lumbridge Swamp. Equip the Dramen staff before entering, and upon opening the door you'll find yourself in Zanaris.

Congratulations, quest complete!
