The dragon longsword is the third-strongest longsword available in Old School RuneScape, and can only be wielded by players who have at least 60 Attack and have completed the Lost City quest.

As with all dragon weapons, players cannot make this item using the Smithing skill. However, it can be purchased in the Zanaris marketplace from Jukat for 100,000 coins (requires a Diamond for entry). The weapon can also be received as a reward from elite Treasure Trails.

It is a preferred weapon for players buying their first dragon weapon as it has a low cost but can still inflict significant damage. For a long time, prior to the 2005 introduction of the abyssal whip and dragon scimitar, this was the weapon of choice for both player killing and training.

It can be upgraded to the Dragon longsword (bh) with a Dragon longsword imbue scroll, which has a +4 increased stab and +6 slash attack bonus, and a +25% accuracy bonus to the special attack. In addition, the special attack consumes only 15% special attack energy rather than 25%, and is one tick faster (2.4 seconds instead of 3.0 seconds). The upgraded version can only be used for PKing in the Bounty Hunter minigame.

Special attack

A player performing the dragon longsword's special attack, Cleave.

The dragon longsword has a special attack called Cleave, which raises the player's maximum hit by 25% for one hit, consuming 25% of the player's special attack energy. The accuracy roll for Cleave is based on the attack bonus of the player's currently selected style, which is rolled against an opponent's slash defence.^[1]
