Dragon hastae are obtained as loot from the brimstone chest, which requires a brimstone key to open. The dragon hasta is obtained in broken form and can be repaired for free by showing it to Otto Godblessed (the repair does not require Barbarian Smithing).
Like most hastae, it provides negative defensive bonuses, but when equipped with a shield, the combined defence bonuses will be higher than those provided by the dragon spear.
As with most dragon equipment, the dragon hasta cannot be made from raw materials using the Smithing skill.
A player performs the dragon hasta's special attack, Unleash.
The dragon hasta has a special attack called Unleash, which drains the player's special attack bar and attacks with a 5% boost in accuracy and a 2.5% boost in damage for every 5% of special attack energy used. Notably, it ignores the 40% damage reduction from Protect from Melee if the opponent has the prayer active.[1] This special rolls off of the opponents stab defence regardless of which mode it is in.
For example, a player with 100% special attack energy who performs the special attack will have 100% increased accuracy (meaning the accuracy is doubled) and a damage boost of 50%.
The examine text of the dragon hasta(kp) variant was changed. The text was changed from "A poison-tipped, one-handed dragon hasta." to "A karambwan poison-tipped, one-handed dragon hasta." for consistency with other karambwan poison-tipped hastae.
The Karambwan poison variant is no longer tradeable. Noted variants of the dragon hasta(kp) that remain in the player's possession were converted into the item Fake dragon hasta(kp).
