Swords, also referred to by players as shortswords, are one of the standard groups of metal weapons; of which, they are stronger than daggers but cannot be poisoned. They are categorically stab swords, meaning they are best at stabbing, but can also be used as a slashing weapon. It is generally a good weapon with all-round stats and isn't too expensive.

Swords aren't often used by players, as most prefer stronger scimitars that also attack at the same speed, or weaker but poison-able daggers. Longswords are another option, as they have slightly higher slash and strength bonuses than scimitars, with moderate stab bonuses, but are slower.
