Battleaxes are one of the standard groups of metal weapons. Of which, battleaxes are stronger than longswords but have slower attack speeds. Battleaxes are also weaker than two-handed swords but slightly faster. Players can buy some of the types of battleaxes at Brian's Battleaxe Bazaar in Port Sarim, at Bob's Brilliant Axes in Lumbridge, or from trading with other players.

Battleaxes have very high Strength bonus with only the two-handed sword beating them. This is a good weapon for players who neglect their Strength relative to their Attack. The key to the effective use of a battleaxe is accuracy, which is why it is important to have a decent Attack level and attack bonus.
