The lucky cutlass can be bought from Smith on Mos Le'Harmless for 2,560 coins after completing the quest Cabin Fever, and requires 30 Attack to wield. A Book o' piracy is required to purchase from Smith.
According to the dialogue when purchasing the cutlass from Smith, the sword was previously owned by a pirate named Unlucky Jenkins, who died after a long series of improbable and very unlucky calamities. After his gruesome demise, his cutlass was discovered, untouched. The other pirates concluded that, having survived so much terrible bad luck already, it would be impossible for it to go through any more bad luck.
Among one-handed weapons buyable in shops, this cutlass provides the highest stab and slash defence, and its crush defence is only beaten by the willow and maple blackjack(d). Because of this, it can be an accessible addition to tank armour when in the Wilderness.
