The blade of Saeldor is a one-handed slash sword that once belonged to Saeldor, an elite elven warrior, that can be created from an enhanced crystal weapon seed. Requiring level 80 Attack to wield, it provides the highest slash bonus out of any one-handed weapon for its attack speed, and is tied with the two-handed Saradomin's blessed sword for highest slash bonus of any weapon for its speed. It is considered the best slash weapon in the game and one of the strongest one-handed melee weapons, along with the Ghrazi rapier and the Inquisitor's mace; though these weapons are weaker than Osmumten's fang against high-defence monsters.
On unprotected death in PvP, the inactive blade is dropped, and all shards used to charge it will be lost. In PvM on the other hand, all current charges will be kept upon death.

Creation
Players can create the blade of Saeldor via a singing bowl by combining 100 crystal shards and an enhanced crystal weapon seed. Doing so requires level 82 Smithing and Crafting to sing the crystal (the levels can be boosted), and grants 5,000 experience in both skills. If the player does not meet the Smithing and Crafting requirements, they can have Conwenna or Reese sing the crystal for them for an extra 50 crystal shards, for a total of 150.

Degradation
When created, the blade starts off at 10,000 charges and degrades like all crystal equipment, with one charge being depleted for each hit, whether it is a successful one or not; once the blade's charges have been fully depleted, it will become inactive and lose its stat bonuses until more charges are added to it. Wearing an elven signet will not provide the chance to not consume charges.
In order to add charges to the blade, crystal shards must be used on it (this can be done before it is inactive as well), with each shard granting 100 charges, up to a maximum of 20,000. Unlike other crystal equipment, players cannot directly revert the blade to an enhanced crystal weapon seed. In order to receive the seed back, players must bring an inactive blade to a singing bowl to revert it, costing 250 crystal shards. This is not recommended, as players can just sell the inactive blade on the Grand Exchange.
Players can configure the charges while the weapon is in their bank by right-clicking on Configure-Charges, as long as players have the required materials.
Using the shard value of making divine super combat potions, the cost per charge is 168.98. Using the shard cost of trading in enhanced crystal teleport seeds to Amrod, the most efficient option for buying crystal shards directly, the cost per charge is 225.22. As a comparison, the abyssal tentacle costs 85.65 per charge.
Upgrading
The blade can be upgraded by corrupting it, which requires bringing the blade and 1,000 crystal shards to a singing bowl. Doing so requires level 82 Smithing and Crafting (both levels can be boosted), and grants no experience. If the player does not meet the Smithing and Crafting requirements, they can have Conwenna or Reese sing the crystal for them for an extra 500 crystal shards.
The corrupted blade stays charged permanently, and does not consume any crystal shards. While the infinite version is untradeable, it can be reverted to an uncharged state at any time, but the shards used will be permanently lost in doing so.
Progress can also be made towards corruption through consuming charges with the blade, indicated through the "Check" option. Each 1% progress is equivalent to 1,000 charges used, which costs 10 crystal shards. Any combination of progress towards corruption, charges in the blade, and crystal shards can be used to meet the 1,000 crystal shard requirement to corrupt the blade. For example, a newly created blade will have 10,000 charges and only costs 900 crystal shards to corrupt.
If the blade reaches 100% progress towards corruption, it will still continue to consume charges until it is corrupted at the singing bowl, and the level 82 Smithing and Crafting requirements are still needed to avoid paying Conwenna or Reese an extra 500 crystal shards to corrupt it on the player's behalf.
If purchasing crystal seeds to exchange into shards, the cost for corrupting the blade is 22,521,700.00.

Trivia
- In J.R.R. Tolkien's constructed elvish language, Sindarin, Saeldor means either "wise land" or "wise king".
- In the Song of the Elves rewards poll, the Blade of Saeldor was proposed to have a special attack called Saeldor's Strike, which consumes 100% of the player's special attack energy and deals 50% additional damage, as well as knockback and stun the target like the dragon spear's special attack does. It only received 70.5% votes in favour, 4.5% short of passing the poll.
- In RuneScape 3, the blade is available as a cosmetic weapon override.
