Halberds, also referred to by players as hallies, are one of the standard groups of metal weapons. They are Members-only and the only weapons in the polearm weapon category. The primary advantage of halberds is that they have an attack range of two tiles (thus allowing players to potentially safespot melee-using monsters from afar) and are also the only melee weapons capable of hitting enemies with the flying attribute, such as Dawn and Kree'arra. All halberds (except the non-standard noxious halberd) have a slow attack speed of 7 ticks.
Compared to 2h swords of their tier, Halberds have the same attack speed but
- focus on stab and slash attack styles, rather than crush and slash
- have slightly less attack bonuses, but also negligible melee defence bonuses
- have slightly less strength bonus (the exception to this is the white and black halberds, which have significantly lower strength bonuses which equal the steel halberd)
Halberds cannot be created with the Smithing skill.

The dragon halberd (and its cosmetic variant) require completion of the Regicide quest to wield.
Other halberds
The crystal halberd requires completion of the Hard Western Provinces Diary to wield or buy from Islwyn for 750,000 coins. It is also degradable, lasting for 2,500 attacks before it reverts to a crystal weapon seed, which must be recharged for a fee by Ilfeen, or by using crystal shards at a singing bowl.
The noxious halberd has an attack speed of 5 ticks, rather than 7 ticks, and is better suited for general combat. It is created by combining three untradeable drops from Araxxor, and has a 33% chance of envenoming an opponent, increasing to 50% when used with a serpentine helm.

Trivia
- The standard metal halberds (except for white) were released in the same update as Regicide. At that time, the only source of them was the Quartermaster's Stores, which is still true for steel, black, and mithril halberds.
- In real life, halberds also have a spear-like spike on the top and sometimes have a hook on the back of the axe blade. They are a variety of weapon called a polearm. Polearms with various configurations of head are given different names.
