Excalibur is a one-handed sword and a quest item obtained from the Merlin's Crystal quest and used in the Holy Grail quest. It requires 20 Attack to wield and has similar stats to the adamant longsword, except for 6 less strength bonus and 1 more magic defence.
In the Merlin's Crystal quest, the player must use Excalibur on the crystal to smash and free Merlin. It is obtained from Lady of the Lake after she tests the purity of the player's spirit when giving a beggar bread at Grum's Gold Exchange in Port Sarim.
In the Holy Grail quest, Excalibur must be equipped as the Black Knight Titan dies in order to enter the Fisher Realm and be able to continue the quest. If another weapon is equipped when he dies, the fight will restart.
Low level players may find Excalibur useful for combat because of its stats, low requirements to obtain and wield, and is free the first time.
If lost, it can be retrieved from the Lady of the Lake in Taverley for 500 coins.

Special attack
Excalibur has a special attack, Sanctuary, which temporarily increases the player's Defence by 8 and consumes 100% special attack energy.
