While the painting is likely an interpretation of Morytania, and not based on a specific location, the mushrooms in the painting are only found in the red and yellow colour in the Haunted Woods west of Port Phasmatys. This location for the painting is corroborated by the examine text mentioning "spooky forests."

While there are several locations in the Haunted Woods containing all three colours of mushroom in close proximity, the configuration most similar to what's shown in the painting is just north of the Werewolf Skullball shack. Unlike in the painting, however, the swamp shown is not a circle.
