The Scythe of Vitur is a two-handed slash weapon requiring 80 Attack and 90 Strength to wield, available as a rare drop from the Theatre of Blood. The scythe is extremely valuable due to its immense power against most large monsters. It is only tradeable when fully uncharged.
The Scythe of Vitur was once wielded by the founder of House Vitur, a vampyre now worshipped as a god.[1]
Although the Scythe of Vitur has a stab bonus, it does not have a Stab combat style.

Passive effect
When the player attacks with a scythe, their attack range is increased to a 1x3 arc radius in front of the player, which can allow them to hit three 1x1 targets in front of them. When attacking a large creature (a monster that occupies more than two game squares), the scythe will instead apply as many hits as possible to them. A 2x2 monster (such as Vardorvis) will be hit twice per attack, while a 3x3 or larger monster (such as dragons and Duke Sucellus) will be hit three times per attack.
These attacks' accuracy and strength rolls are rolled independently on each target, though each hit will deal 50% less damage, (rounded down), than the preceding hit. Even numbered base max hits gain an additional max hit on the 2nd hit, while every base max hit evenly divisible by 4, (e.g. 44, 48, 52), gain an additional max hit on the 3rd hit.
For example, on a 3x3 monster, if a player has a base max hit of 47 with the scythe, their true maximum hit is 81 (47-23-11). If the player is able to increase the base max hit by 1 to 48, the player would get a true maximum hit of 84 (48-24-12).
The scythe is essentially at its optimal performance when fighting 3x3 or larger monsters. While it can deal more damage than a noxious halberd against 2x2 enemies, missing out on a third hit significantly decreases its capabilities, and the scythe will lose out to a soulreaper axe with five soul stacks.
Despite the reduced damage from the second and third hits, the scythe is still immensely powerful against large creatures, provided that they are weak against slash or equally against all styles.
Charging and degradation
While the scythe can be used uncharged, it is drastically stronger by charging it; once charged, it gains +20 stab/crush, +50 slash attack bonus, +4 slash and +10 crush defence bonus and +25 strength bonus.
In order to charge it, players must add at least one vial of blood and a set of 200 blood runes to the vyre well next to the bank in Ver Sinhaza. The vials of blood can be brought in noted form. This can be done without completing any quests in the Darkmeyer series. Additionally, once Sins of the Father quest is completed, there is a vyre well outside the bank in Darkmeyer.
Each vial and 200 blood runes adds 100 charges to the scythe, with it being able to hold up to 20,000 charges (costing 824.38 coins per attack, and a total of 16,487,600 to fully charge it with 40,000 blood runes and 200 vials of blood). One charge is deducted per attack, as long as one of the hits deals damage. The hourly rate of using the scythe is 989,256 coins. The fully charged scythe will last for 16.66 hours of continuous combat before reverting to its uncharged form.
Once the charges are added to the scythe, they can be returned by using the scythe on the vyre wells in Ver Sinhaza should players decide to uncharge the scythe. Charges left will be rounded down at 100 hits per charge; for example, with 1,275 hits remaining, 1,200 charges will be deposited. These charges may then be withdrawn from the well to receive the blood runes and vials of blood back. Uncharging outside the well, however, will not return blood runes or vials of blood.
In the event of a PvP death, if the scythe is not protected, all charges will be lost and the person who gets the scythe will not receive any blood runes or vials of blood.
Ornament kit
The Scythe of Vitur can be combined with a holy ornament kit to make a holy Scythe of Vitur. Alternatively, the Scythe of Vitur can be combined with a Sanguine ornament kit to make a Sanguine Scythe of Vitur. These cosmetic enhancements do not change the stats in any way, but the holy Scythe of Vitur does count as a Saradomin item in the God Wars Dungeon.
