Multi-hit weapons (also called double-hitting weapons[1] and twin weapons[2]) are weapons that hit an enemy multiple times in one attack. Some weapons attack multiple times on the same game tick while others attack multiple times on consecutive game ticks.

Multi-hit weapons are useful when fighting NPCs with negative flat armour, such as the Blue Moon, as the flat damage increase gets applied to each hitsplat separately. They can also be useful for delivering killing blows in PvP.

Multi-hit weapons are not to be confused with weapons such as the venator bow and spells such as Ice Barrage that hit multiple enemies in one attack, as these are instead considered area-of-effect attacks.

Comparison of multi-hit weapons

Multi-hit weapons comparison table
Name Requirements Price Notes
Sulphur blades Attack 55 75,417
  • Deals slash-based damage
  • Performs two independently rolled hits per attack, hitting twice on the same game tick. The maximum damage of each hit is determined by calculating the combined max hit as normal and dividing it by two. If the combined max hit is odd, one max hit is rounded up while the other is rounded down (e.g., 45 → 22 + 23).
Glacial temotli Attack 55 61,409
  • Deals crush-based damage
  • Performs two independently rolled hits per attack, hitting twice on the same game tick. The maximum damage of each hit is determined by calculating the combined max hit as normal and dividing it by two. If the combined max hit is odd, one max hit is rounded up while the other is rounded down (e.g., 45 → 22 + 23).
Earthbound tecpatl Attack 55 72,570
  • Deals stab-based damage
  • Performs two independently rolled hits per attack, hitting twice on the same game tick. The maximum damage of each hit is determined by calculating the combined max hit as normal and dividing it by two. If the combined max hit is odd, one max hit is rounded up while the other is rounded down (e.g., 45 → 22 + 23).
Torag's hammers Attack 70 , Strength 70 96,354
  • Performs two independently rolled hits per attack, hitting twice on the same game tick. The maximum damage of each hit is determined by calculating the combined max hit as normal and dividing it by two. If the combined max hit is odd, one max hit is rounded up while the other is rounded down (e.g., 45 → 22 + 23).
  • If worn with the rest of Torag the Corrupted's equipment, it offers a set effect which lowers the target's run energy by 20% (only works on players).
  • Wearing an amulet of the damned together with the whole equipment set will increase the player's Defence level according to the amount of damage taken.
  • Like all Barrows equipment, it degrades and will fully degrade after 15 hours of combat. It is repairable.
Dual macuahuitl Attack 70 , Strength 75 4,322,183
  • Hits twice per attack, spaced one game tick apart when attacking monsters, and dealing damage in two hitsplats, with both hitsplats having their max hit halved. If the player has an odd maximum hit, the first hit's maximum damage will be rounded down and the second hit's will be rounded up, e.g. a maximum hit of 25 will be split into two maximum hits of 12 and 13.
  • Each hitsplat has its own accuracy check, however unlike other two-hit weapons like Torag's hammers or sulphur blades, where both checks are independent (either can hit or miss without affecting the other, equivalent to two separate hits with a single-hit weapon), the dual macuahuitl checks the two hits sequentially and the second check will only proceed if the first succeeds. If the first accuracy check succeeds, damage will be rolled for the first hit and a second accuracy check will roll for the second hit. If the first accuracy check fails, the second check will not proceed at all and both hits will be zeroes. As a result, "half" of the weapon's DPS functions normally, while the other "half" is reduced due to needing to pass two accuracy checks.
  • If worn with the rest of Blood moon armour set, it offers a set effect which grants a 33% chance upon a successful hit to attack one tick earlier than usual, allowing the player to attack again after 3 ticks. This chance applies to each hit individually, for an effective rate of 55.5% chance if both hits are successful.
Dark bow Ranged 60 705,217
  • Fires two arrows per attack which roll independent accuracy checks, hitting twice on the same game tick.
  • The slowest weapon in the game, with an attack speed of 9 (5.4 seconds).
  • Offers a powerful special attack, which if used with dragon arrows increases damage dealt by 50% with a minimum hit of 8 (30% with any other arrow type with a minimum. hit of 5). Costs 55% special attack energy.
Twinflame staff Magic 60 6,438,992
  • When casting elemental spells (excluding Strike and Surge), the staff will fire off two spells at once; the second hit will land one tick after the first, dealing 40% of the damage dealt by the first, rounded down.
  • Provides a 10% increase in accuracy and damage when casting spells from the standard spellbook
  • Automatically casts the appropriate elemental spell for an NPC with a different elemental weakness than what the player is autocasting, provided that the player has the required runes and Magic level for the selected spell.
Tonalztics of ralos Ranged 75 45,046,096
  • When charged with Sunfire splinters, the weapon will hit twice.
  • Each hit deals 0-75% of total weapon damage.
  • Each hit rolls for accuracy independently.
Scythe of vitur Attack 80 , Strength 90 1,208,338,314
  • Hits 2x2 monsters twice and 3x3 or larger monsters 3 times. Can also hit additional 1x1 targets in front of the wielder in a 1x3 arc.
  • The 2nd hit has 1/2 of the base maximum hit, while the 3rd hit has 1/4 of the base maximum hit.
  • Each hit rolls for accuracy independently.

Other

Karil's crossbow, when worn with the rest of Karil the Tainted's equipment and an amulet of the damned, grants a 25% chance for an attack to hit twice, in which case the second hit will inflict half the damage of the first.

Some weapons have special attacks that hit multiple times in one attack. The player must choose to activate these attacks.
