Nylocas Matomenos

Nylocas Matomenos spawn during The Maiden of Sugadinti and Verzik Vitur encounters in the Theatre of Blood.

The Nylocas Matomenos that spawn during the Maiden fight will heal her for double their remaining hitpoints if they reach her, so binding them in place using ice spells is necessary to prevent massive amounts of hitpoints being restored.

The Nylocas Matomenos that spawn during the Verzik fight will only heal her for their remaining hitpoints.

Despite never attacking the player directly, casting Monster Examine will reveal that it has a stab attack style and a max hit of 11.

Dark Lure does not work on these creatures.

The chance of freezing (including binding and grasping) the Nylocas Matomenos during the Maiden encounter scales based on the player's magic attack bonus, with a 100% freeze rate when it is at +140. However, other factors can affect the freeze rate, such as Void Knight equipment and the Augury prayer. To effectively achieve a 100% freeze rate, the player should reach a magic accuracy roll of (Base Magic level + 9) * 204^[1] or higher. This threshold, at 99 Magic, is 22,032.

• The word "Nylocas" is very similar to the Hungarian word "Nyolcas", meaning "eight", referencing the eight legs of this arachnid-like creature.
• The latter part of the name of the Nylocas Matomenos likely derives from the Greek term "ματωμένος" ("matoménos"), meaning "bloody" or "bleeding", referencing its background within the lore and its ability to heal The Maiden and Verzik Vitur.
• The Nylocas Matomenos in Maiden's room cannot be poisoned. The Nylocas Matomenos in Verzik Vitur's second phase can be poisoned, dealing 6 damage each time.
