Transportation
The Giant Mole is located in the Mole Hole under Falador. The entrance point is located at Falador Park, where there are mole hills scattered on the west side. The closest teleport is the Falador Park option(3) on the ring of wealth. Players must bring a spade to dig underground and a light source of some type is required or they will be constantly bitten by bugs. A Fire of Eternal Light can be lit inside the cave after completing the Making Friends with My Arm quest which provides permanent light inside the cave.
In the north-west of Falador park is a mole hill with a spade. This allows access to a private instance of the mole hill for 25000 gp. Players who have completed the Hard tier Combat Achievements will receive a reduced price of 12,500 GP. Also, the price is halved for Ironman accounts, reducing the cost to either 12,500 GP or 6,250 GP for those who have completed the Hard Combat Achievements.
Attacks and abilities
- Melee attack: The mole swipes a claw at its target, dealing up to 21 damage.
- Burrow: When the mole's health is between 5-50%, there is a 25% chance for any incoming attack to cause it to burrow away into another location.[1] There is also a chance that the dirt she digs while burrowing to escape can extinguish the player's light source (shown with dirt splatters on the player's screen), though covered light sources will be unaffected by this. Note that splashed magic attacks cannot trigger her to dig, making weapons such as the Tumeken's Shadow particularly good for fighting the mole.
Guide
Combat with the mole is straightforward, as it doesn't have any unique attacks or abilities that can endanger the player.
For low levelled players, they can safespot it with the cavern walls, as it does not move around the safespot to attack players. Ranging is highly recommended when safespotting, as it has low ranged defence. Players meleeing it should activate Protect from Melee and use stabbing weapons, as it has lower stab defence compared to slash and crush.
For high levelled players, the mole can be killed quickly with Dharok the Wretched's equipment, as it is easily possible to kill her within 2-3 hits depending on the player's strength boosting equipment. Simply lower your health to 1 with the Locator orb or Dwarven rock cake, activate Protect from Melee and flick Piety.
When the mole reaches half health and lower, there is a chance that it will dig away to another location in the lair. Without the Falador shield 3 or 4, it can be a tedious task, as players may have to navigate through the whole lair to find the mole. The mole also loses aggression towards the primary target when burrowing away. Thralls can be used as a makeshift substitute for the Falador shield, as they will begin to path towards the mole's new location after she digs in order to attack her, but as thrall's max hit is 3 and they can make the giant mole dig, this is not recommended.
Completion of the hard Falador diaries is highly recommended, as players with the shield can locate the mole whenever it digs away. It also notes the 100% drop of mole skin and claws, prolonging trips.
Poison is a fantastic tool against the Mole, since she will not burrow from poison damage, significantly shortening kill times. For ironmen (who may not have access to Poison(++) potions due to the high Herblore requirement), a great alternative is completing the Tai Bwo Wannai Trio quest and speaking to Tamayu, who will reward the player with a rune spear (kp). This karambwan-poison-coated weapon has the same poison strength as Poison(++).
Equipment
Currently, the Twisted bow is one of the most effective ways of killing the Giant Mole. It offers some of the highest damage of any setup. A dwarf multicannon can also be brought to speed up kills.
Inventory
- Spade
- A good light source such as a lit bullseye lantern, Kandarin headgear, or Firemaking cape. Not needed if Fire of Eternal Light is built at the entrance.
- 3 Divine ranging potions
- 11-14 prayer potions
- 3-4 stamina potions
- Falador shield 3 or 4
- Ring of wealth with charges for teleporting to Falador Park
- Rune pouch filled with nature and fire runes
- Dwarf multicannon and steel cannonballs to speed up kills (optional)
Currently, the Tumeken's shadow is one of the most effective ways of killing the Giant Mole. It offers some of the highest damage of any setup, comparable to using a Twisted bow. Due to Mole's 50% weakness to earth, earth spells are effective for accounts without a Twisted bow or shadow who wish to safespot. Unless autocasting with a staff, a dwarf multicannon should not be brought due to poor accuracy. An added bonus of using Magic is that splashes cannot trigger the mole to dig, meaning players won't have to chase after the mole as much compared to other combat styles.

- Saturated heart
- 8-12 prayer potions
- 4 stamina potions
- Falador shield 3 or 4
- Ring of wealth with charges for teleporting to Falador Park
- Rune pouch filled with runes for earth spells and High alchemy
- Dwarf multicannon and steel cannonballs should only be brought if not using a powered staff, as above. Replace some prayer potions if choosing to bring.
Currently, the Osmumten's fang offers the most kills per hour while using melee equipment.

Using Dharok the Wretched's equipment offers fewer kills per hour than the Armadyl crossbow, but is a much more affordable option for most players. Use the locator orb or a dwarven rock cake to get down to 1 Hitpoint. Always keep Protect from Melee on when you're attacking the boss. If the player does not own a cape that provides a Strength bonus, they can instead use a cape that provides a prayer bonus to maximise the amount of time Protect from Melee is active before needing to restore Prayer Points.

Using melee without Void Knight equipment offers fewer kills per hour than Void or Dharok the Wretched's equipment. This setup has the advantage of using cheap gear and not requiring untradeable items, making it more accessible for newer players. You should Protect from Melee when in combat with the Giant Mole.
