The fighter torso (called the Penance torso in the Barbarian Assault Reward Shop) is armour that requires 40 Defence to equip and is a reward from the Barbarian Assault minigame. It can be purchased from Commander Connad for 375 honour points in all four roles, and one Penance Queen kill. It can be sold back to Connad for 300 honour points in all four roles by using it on him.

If the player dies a PvP death at level 20 Wilderness or below and the item is unprotected, it will remain in the player's inventory; however, the item will be in a broken, unusable state and must be repaired by using it on Perdu and paying him 150,000 coins.

If the player dies a PvP death above level 20 Wilderness and the item is unprotected, it will be converted to coins. To prevent this, a Trouver parchment and a payment of 500,000 coins can be given to Perdu in order to permanently lock the item. The locked item will remain in the player's inventory; however, the item will be in a mangled, unusable state and must be repaired by using it on Perdu and paying him 500,000 coins.

Note: It is possible to obtain at any level, but low level players may struggle specifically with the attacker role.

This item can be stored in the armour case of a costume room.

Advantages

The fighter torso is one of the most popular and frequently used armour pieces for melee training, where maximizing damage output via strength bonus outweighs the benefit of any other equipment bonus. Its strength bonus is tied with the oathplate chest, Bandos chestplate, Blood moon chestplate, and Inquisitor's hauberk but only costs time playing Barbarian Assault instead of coins. Its defence bonuses sit in between that of the adamant and rune platebodies, except for its slash defence bonus which is higher than the rune platebody and even the granite body.

Additionally, it has the highest negative magic accuracy possible in the body slot, making it an effective armour for splashing.
