Nechryael are a type of demon that can be assigned as a slayer task at level 80 Slayer and 85 combat by various Slayer masters. They are notable for their frequent drops of herbs, seeds, and alchable items, making them an extremely good slayer task.

Nechryael attack with melee, and can periodically summon up to two death spawns to assist them in battle. These death spawns are fairly inaccurate with a max hit of 2, but as they attack with typeless melee, Protect from Melee has no effect on them. Uniquely, they are able to attack you in single-combat areas regardless of if you are already in combat. It is recommended to bring food if using Melee or to have runes to cast blood spells if using Magic to kill nechryaels. It is also possible to leave the area and return to lose aggression, but this is impractical in most situations.

A stronger variant of the Nechryael, the Greater Nechryael, can be found in the Catacombs of Kourend, Iorwerth Dungeon and Wilderness Slayer Cave. These are mechanically the same as their standard counterparts, barring higher stats. It is highly recommended to kill these whenever possible, as they have a more lucrative drop table. Both variants share the same superior, the Nechryarch, though the common drop table takes from whichever variant they came from. Nechryarch attack with melee, but will periodically summon a trio of chaotic death spawn; one each in melee, magic and ranged. They hit significantly harder, but their attacks can be blocked with prayer. These spawns will only appear if the Nechryarch is allowed to attack the player, so using safespots or farcasting will prevent this from happening.

Players who seek a fast task are encouraged to kill them in the Catacombs of Kourend, as fourteen greater nechryael are found in two chambers of seven each. With a goading potion to draw aggression, players will find themselves gaining very high experience rates with minimal downtime.

If not intending to mage greater nechryael, players are recommended to melee them in the Iorwerth Dungeon, as it is very likely to be crashed by another player if using melee in the catacombs. The nechryael in the dungeon are able to drop crystal shards to increase overall profit per task.

If killing nechryael under an assignment from Krystilia, players must head to the Wilderness Slayer Cave. A goading potion is recommended, along with a one-click teleport such as a royal seed pod. The player can easily teleport out of the dungeon, but the caves themselves are a very popular player killing spot and players are likely to die if they do not pay attention in the caves.

Normal nechryael yield lower Slayer experience rates, although for ironman players in particular, their more plentiful seed drops are a very efficient source for Herblore training and general potions. In addition, as they are roughly twice as fast to kill, their malicious ashes can be offered more frequently for higher Prayer experience rates. Most nechryael are found in the Slayer Tower, though they may also be found in the Charred Dungeon, which is a multicombat area. However, it is highly discouraged to kill normal nechryael here, as they are divided into two groups of five and six respectively, which is rather low for barraging purposes. This dungeon additionally requires 60 Sailing to access the island and is very far from most locations unless a boat is docked there with a greater teleport focus.

Equipment

  1. ^ Particularly useful if paired with Dinh's spec
  2. ^ For coin drops
  3. ^ May not lure all enemies consistently, so darts or knives, or goading potions are also recommended.
  4. ^ 4.0 4.1 Can be used on stacked enemies to efficiently gain Strength or Defence xp. Players may also bring a melee switch to make this more effective.

This is the best-in-slot available equipment for fighting greater nechryaels with Magic.

Notes

  1. ^ May be better than obsidian tier tasset options if no max hit is gained

This is the best-in-slot available equipment for fighting nechryaels with Melee. Using a demonbane weapon is highly recommended. These weapons scale extremely well with strength bonus, so it is strongly recommended to prioritise this over prayer bonus gear where possible.
