The seed box is an item that can store up to 2,147,483,647 seeds of six different types. It is purchased from Farmer Gricoller at the Tithe Farm for 250 points. This item can be used directly on a farming patch. Using the box on a patch will automatically plant the first applicable seed of that patch's type, which can be reordered. Players can right-click to open the box, which will have seeds that the player picks up be automatically placed inside the box, provided there is space for it.

Although frags and mushroom spores are not taxonomically seeds, they can still be stored in the seed box.

Like Gricoller's can, players can only own one seed box at a time. It is useful to bring to Slayer tasks and bosses which drop a large variety of seeds commonly, such as nechryael, to save inventory space. Ultimate Ironman players may find the seed box very useful, as it saves up to five inventory spaces while training Farming and Herblore.

It is also useful to bring while shipwreck salvaging due to the number of seeds and frags different shipwrecks provide, particularly at large shipwrecks and merchant shipwrecks. Seeds gained from sorting salvage do not automatically go into an opened seed box.

Bug:

While coral frags can be stored in the seed box, they will not automatically be stored in an open seed box while thieving from sailing chests

3 June 2026 (Update \| poll)	Using a seed box on a Farming patch will now automatically attempt to plant the first seed suitable for that patch. Seeds can now be reordered in the seed box interface by right-clicking the box and selecting "Check".
6 May 2026 (Update)	The seed box now works with looting Sailing creatures while opened.
20 July 2022 (Update)	The seed box now lists its content in chat when checked, even if the interface doesn't remain open. If it is open, the list will appear when closing the interface, thus giving the most up-to-date status of the box.
14 April 2021 (Update)	Upon death above level 20 wilderness the seed box will now be destroyed but its content preserved within the next box acquired. This does not work for UIM Accounts
16 April 2020 (Update \| poll)	Seeds pickpocketed from Master Farmers will now be directly placed into an open seed box.
23 January 2020 (Update \| poll)	Open and close options have been added, which allows seeds that the player picks up be automatically placed inside the box while opened, providing there is space for it. The item's name was changed from "Seed box" to "Open seed box", while the closed version was given the open box's item name. The item was graphically updated.
24 January 2019 (Update)	Shift-clicking now empties the contents into the inventory.
14 April 2016 (Update)	The "Check" and "Fill" options were swapped, so Fill is now left-click.
11 February 2016 (Update)	The weight of the seed box was reduced from 6kg to 1 kg.
