Medium pouches are bags that can hold 6 rune, pure, daeyalt, or guardian essence for use in the Runecraft skill. This item requires level 25 Runecraft to use, and it is not possible to boost your Runecrafting level in order to use it at lower levels. This item is dropped by Abyssal monsters. It is also a reward from the Temple of the Eye quest if one hasn't been obtained prior.

This is the fourth best essence pouch that can be obtained.

After it has been used to store 270 essence (or approximately 45 full uses), the pouch will degrade and hold only 3 essence. Further uses degrade the capacity even more, and it will eventually disintegrate completely, and must be reacquired thereafter. Like other essence pouches, the Medium pouch does not degrade if the player is wearing a Runecraft cape or max cape when filling it.

To repair the pouch so it can hold the maximum of six essence again, you must speak to the Dark mage located in the centre of the Abyss. Cordelia is also able to repair essence pouches at a cost of one abyssal pearl, though this service requires 25 abyssal pearls to unlock first.

Essence contained in the pouch when it's dropped will be lost. A message will pop up and tell the player: "The contents of the pouch fell out as you dropped it!". The exception to this is dying with a pouch that still contains essence. If you recover your pouch from looting your gravestone or from Death, it will still contain the same amount of essence as before.

The pouch is only dropped if the player does not already have one in their inventory or bank, and lower-tiered pouches are owned. The Runecraft level (25) is not necessary to have in order for the pouch to be dropped.
