A log basket is an item that allows players to store a combined total of 28 logs of any type. The basket can be purchased from the Forestry Shop for 300 noted oak logs, 300 noted willow logs, and 5,000 anima-infused bark. Players (excluding Ultimate Ironmen) can sell the basket back to the rewards shop for an 80% return of the cost to purchase. The basket must be closed before being sold back.

This item can be stored in the magic wardrobe of a costume room.

Players can automatically store logs in their basket whilst chopping a tree if they select the "Open" option. Players can check the basket's contents by selecting the "Check" right-click option. This tells the number and type of logs the player has inside, and provides an option to empty the logs into the player's inventory. The basket does not store fungi collected through cutting sulliuscep, bruma roots obtained at Wintertodt, charcoal, or any type of pyre logs. Although not traditionally considered "logs," the bark cut from hollow trees can be stored in the log basket. Note that chopping regular trees with any Kandarin headgear will result in the extra log in the player's inventory and not inside the basket.

Players may deposit the logs inside the basket to a bank or a bank deposit box by right-clicking "Empty" on the item whilst the bank interface is open. Players wearing the basket can deposit their logs by using the "Empty containers" button in the Bank UI. Multiple baskets may be purchased; however, they have a linked inventory. This link is also shared with the Forestry basket.

Players can combine the log basket with a sturdy harness and a Forestry kit to create a wearable Forestry basket. The log basket, Forestry kit, and Forestry basket are storable in the magic wardrobe within the costume room of a player-owned house, except for the sturdy harness.

When completing the Beehive Forestry event, the player will begin to use logs from within their log basket to build beehives when they run out of logs in their inventory. The player will not feed using logs from within the basket when adding logs to a Forester's campfire.

To empty the basket into the inventory, players need to use the "Check" option, then select "Yes" when asked if they want to empty the basket into their inventory. There is also a sub-menu under "Check" that has another option "Empty", which will bypass this dialogue.

To make planks inside a player-owned house, players may need to empty their log basket first before handing in the logs to their servant. Note that servants cannot remove the logs from the player's log basket. This mechanic is very similar to how the plank sack functions; both the plank sack and log basket must be emptied before using the plank or log inside the player's house.

Players using Sawmills to create planks may use the log basket with the plank sack to increase the amount of planks created per trip.

Unlike some other storage items, the log basket can be emptied anywhere (except at Barbarian Assault and the Fight Caves), not only near a bank.

The log basket can be effectively used whilst training the Hunter skill by storing logs, especially with deadfall and pitfall traps. Players will need to empty their log basket before setting up both of these traps if all of the players' logs are inside the log basket.

Extra teak logs or mahogany logs can be stored in the log basket when using them as part of tick manipulation to train skills, in case the log being used to manipulate the skilling timer is accidentally expended.

A log basket may be useful when participating in the Vale Totems minigame to carry more logs, building more totems per hour.

A log basket may be worn and emptied within the Trouble Brewing minigame, making it useful for replenishing (or creating repairs without diminishing) the Log Store.

Note: Purchasing also requires 300 oak logs (noted) and 300 willow logs (noted) in addition to the anima-infused bark.
