Rising roots is a Forestry event where tree and anima-infused roots appear around a tree for a set amount of time. Chopping the roots gives both Woodcutting experience and anima-infused bark.

Overview

The length of this event is one minute and 33 seconds. During this event, regular tree roots will spawn constantly, granting anima-infused bark and Woodcutting experience that scales to the player's Woodcutting level. Anima-infused roots appear after 25-35 ticks (15-21 seconds) when the event spawns and appear green-trimmed. These anima-infused roots will then spawn in 20-tick (12-second) increments up to six times. Below are formulas that calculate the Woodcutting experience whilst chopping both regular and anima roots:

Experience chopping regular roots
Level requiredWoodcutting 15
Woodcutting XP0.55 xp

Experience chopping anima roots
Level requiredWoodcutting 15
Woodcutting XP1.2 xp

The experience rates may be higher if using Woodcutting boosts such as the Lumberjack or Forestry outfit and if chopping the roots with a group of players. In addition, if using a felling axe alongside Forester's rations, players may need to bring a regular axe switch to avoid the 20% chance for the Felling Axe effect activating on the roots, reducing the bark gained.

If players log in whilst the event is going on or if the player fails to cut an uncommon tree at least three minutes before the event starts, both regular and anima-infused roots will give only one anima bark per chop. Below is a table of approximate values of anima bark based on the player's Woodcutting level. Note that players are eligible for events when cutting an uncommon tree, starting with oak trees at level 15.
