An oak tree is a lumber tree requiring level 15 Woodcutting to cut, granting 37.5 experience for each set of oak logs received. It is the lowest level tree capable of providing more than one log from each tree. Oak trees are commonly cut to train Woodcutting after normal trees.
Tree locations
Oak trees are fairly common and found throughout Gielinor in most locations normal trees can be found. They are displayed on the World Map and Minimap as a bushy leaved tree
Free areas
- Draynor Village - two directly east of the bank, many south of the jail and inside the fences surrounding it, several north of the village. Due to the presence of willow trees and a nearby bank, this location is popular for Forestry activities.
- Varrock - three directly south-west of Varrock west bank, a large cluster north-east of the Champions' Guild, three east of the Grand Exchange near the Varrock Palace, and many dotted around the city bounds.
- Falador - many dotted around and inside the city bounds and a large cluster near the south farming patch, five at the crossroads above the Crafting Guild, below the south wall of the city.
- Lumbridge - five east of the River Lum, several sparsely dotted around north and west of the castle, and one inside the castle walls.
- Port Sarim - north of the town buildings, right under the South Falador Farm. There is a bank deposit at Entrana's dock for easy banking.
- Rimmington - two clusters of four trees north and east of the village.
- Tutorial Island - these trees cannot be cut, as the level cap on the island is 3 and notable for their darker trunks compared to regular oak trees.
- Wilderness - only a few oak trees can be found directly north of the Wilderness Ditch.
- Very few to no oak trees can be found in Al Kharid and the surrounding desert, on Karamja and Crandor, in the Lumbridge Swamp, in the general area surrounding the Ice Mountain and in the area around the Corsair Cove.
Member areas
Practical locations:
- Seers' Village - four trees near the bank entrance. While not abundant, the presence of maple trees and willow trees north of the bank, and yew trees to the south, makes this a popular hotspot for Forestry activities.
- Sorcerer's Tower - a few clusters can be found north of the tower, which can be reached using the teleport to Sherlock from Kandarin headgear 4. This location also has many yew and magic trees nearby, making it a popular hotspot for Forestry activities.
- Tree Gnome Stronghold - several are located a few steps south-west of the spirit tree, many other are dotted around the stronghold. A few can be found next to the ladders of the south bank.
- Castle Wars - many trees east of the lobby area over the bridge.
- Catherby - a large cluster of trees can be found west of the town, close to the road leading to Camelot Castle.
- Yanille - several trees can be found north of the bank, right outside of the north-eastern city gate.
- Hosidius - two trees located outside Hosidus kitchen right next to a bank.
General areas
- Kandarin - large clusters can be found almost everywhere in Kandarin, for example inside East Ardougne east of the market, inside McGrubor's Wood, between Seers' Village and East Ardougne, north-west of the Fishing Guild, dotted around the Chompy Marsh, south and west of the Tree Gnome Stronghold, and north of West Ardougne.
- Kingdom of Great Kourend - almost all oak trees in Kourend are located in the lands surrounding Hosidius, dotted around in the Kourend Woodland and the area surrounding Land's End, and in the areas east and south of Kourend Castle. A few can be found in the Woodcutting Guild, and two can be found north of the bank in Hosidius. Most trees are far from any banks.
- Aldarin - some oak trees can be found north of the POH portal
- Kebos Lowlands - many oak trees are located around the Farming Guild, as well as north-west of the Battlefront. These are all relatively far from any banks.
- Fremennik Province - a large amount of trees are dotted around in the forest south and south-east of Rellekka.
- A few clusters can be found north of Taverley, at the north-east coastline of Feldip Hills, and south of the Piscatoris Fishing Colony.
- Oak trees can also be found in the Fisher Realm (post quest), in Zanaris, and around the Air and Nature Altar (which are not reachable, however).
- In the areas of Morytania, Karamja, Tirannwn, the Kharidian Desert, the Kebos Swamp, Lovakengj, Arceuus, Shayzien, virtually all islands aside from Entrana and Tutorial Island, no or very few oak trees can be found.

Bird nests have a 1/256(1/230 with the Woodcutting cape) chance to be received instead of a log. They will be placed on the ground and despawn after 2 minutes.

- ^ 1.0 1.1 1.2 Twitcher's gloves allow the wearer to a specific type of nest 20% more likely to appear.

Mechanics
An oak tree will fall after 45 ticks (27 seconds) of chopping; the depletion timer regenerates if players stop cutting the tree before it is fully chopped. Once felled, it will take 14 ticks (8.4 seconds) to respawn.
A roll to receive a log is done every 4 game ticks when chopping. The chance to successfully chop is affected by the axe used and Woodcutting level: better axes and a higher woodcutting level increases the likelihood of successfully receiving a log.

With level 15 Farming, Acorns may be grown into an Oak tree, which gives oak logs when cut down. Checking on a fully grown and healthy Oak tree will give 467.3 Farming experience. It takes 3 hours and 20 minutes to grow. When cut down, the tree will automatically regrow after a period of time. Alternatively, it can be dug up using a spade, yielding some oak roots in the process. A player may also pay one basket of tomatoes to a nearby farmer to guarantee its growth.
Lore
There are several mentions of oaks by NPCs around Gielinor as well as in books. The following text is transcluded from Gielinor's flora - trees. The information found within the book is more often than not just flavour text, and does not reflect their properties or uses within the game itself.
Oaks are native to the middle kingdoms of Gielinor whose temperate climate prove perfect for this particularly useful species. Everyone from the lowliest peasant to the highest king has some oddment or another made from oak. It is used in the manufacture of ships, furniture, floorings and more. One notable use is in the making of barrels for storing of wine and liquors with the oak adding a particularly unique taste to any vintage. The leaves and acorns of the oak tree are poisonous to most livestock due to naturally occurring toxins. An interesting exception is the domestic pig, which in lean times can be fed entirely on acorns.

Trivia
- During the game update that removed Kourend Favour and introduced a Lovakengj Minecart Network station near the Tithe Farm, a random oak tree got added on the 1st floor just north-east of the tithe farm building. Even though it could not be accessed, it could be seen floating in the air by players who had set their 'Hide Roofs' setting turned off. It seems to have been removed in a later update.
