Palm tree

A palm tree (also known as a coconut tree) is grown with the Farming skill. Level 68 farmers may grow a palm tree by planting a palm tree sapling in a fruit tree patch. The nearby farmer will watch over a growing palm tree in exchange for 15 papaya fruits. A palm tree sapling will take 16 hours to fully grow. If this tree becomes diseased, using secateurs or magic secateurs on it to prune the diseased leaves will bring it back to a healthy state. Alternatively, the spell Cure Plant from the Lunar Spellbook or a plant cure can also be used to bring a diseased palm tree back to a healthy state. The Resurrect Crops spell from the Arceuus spellbook can be used to attempt to bring a dead palm tree back to life.

Planting the palm sapling gives 110.5 Farming experience. A healthy palm tree, when checked, provides 10,150 Farming experience. The tree will produce six coconuts, which grant 41.5 Farming experience each when picked, for a total of 10,509.5 experience per seed from planting to harvest. Palm trees can be harvested repeatedly, with a coconut growing back every 40 minutes for a maximum of six. If buying the Palm tree seed and papaya fruit on the Grand Exchange, it will cost around 41,381 per tree, assuming one pays a gardener.

Coconuts are used in the Herblore skill to make coconut milk, which is required for antidote+, weapon poison(+), antidote++, and weapon poison(++). They are also used as payment for gardeners to look after dragonfruit trees (15 coconuts) and magic trees (25 coconuts).

Checking the health of a palm tree near Tree Gnome Village is a requirement for the hard Ardougne diary, in Lletya for the hard Western Provinces diary and in Brimhaven for the elite Karamja diary.
