Jungle trees are regular lumber trees that can be found in jungle and tropical areas. Chopping jungle trees requires level 1 Woodcutting and provides 25 experience per set of logs received. A common usage for jungle trees is to provide logs while pitfall trapping larupias.

A variant jungle tree is found at the entrance to the Kharazi Jungle, where a wall of trees and jungle bushes block the entrance and must be chopped down during the Legends' Quest. A second variant can also be found in the Kharazi Jungle and chopped like a regular tree, and a third variant can be found in the Trouble Brewing minigame, where it can be both chopped for regular logs, or burnt down with torches.

Tree locations

Jungle trees are shown on the Worldmap and minimap as a thin tree . The thin tree image is shared with other trees and bushes, so a thin tree image on the minimap does not directly mean it is a jungle tree. It should be noted that the jungle tree models are used extensively in tropical areas, however there are only a few areas where the trees can be cut.

Mechanics

Jungle trees have two models, but share the same mechanics. All varieties provide logs when cut, and deplete after one log is received. A roll to receive a log is done every 4 game ticks when chopping. The chance to successfully chop is affected by the axe used and Woodcutting level, better axes and a higher woodcutting level increases the likelihood of successfully receiving a log. Dark jungle trees are smaller and only uses one game square of space.

Light and dark jungle trees do not have the usual chopping sound when a player is actively attempting to cut the tree. The usual depletion sound is present on these trees.

Additional Drops

  • Beaver – Jungle trees have a chance to drop the beaver Woodcutting pet. At level 1 Woodcutting there is a 1 in 317,622 chance to receive the beaver and a 1 in 315,172 chance at level 99.
  • Clue nest – Jungle trees have a chance of dropping any tier of clue nest, based on Woodcutting level, the tree's base chance, and access to the reward tiers of Combat Achievements. See Clue nest § Woodcutting rates for a detailed breakdown.
