A hollow tree is a lumber tree requiring level 45 Woodcutting to cut. The tree provides bark when cut and 82.5 Woodcutting experience per piece of bark collected from the tree. Hollow trees only grow in select areas of Morytania. Hollow trees are primarily cut in order to gather bark to make splitbark armour. Hollow trees are cut very infrequently, due to their restricted and remote location and limited use.

Mechanics
A hollow tree will fall after 60 ticks (36 seconds) of chopping; the depletion timer regenerates if players stop cutting the tree before it is fully chopped. Once felled, it will take 43 ticks (25.8 seconds) to respawn. In addition, forestry events do not occur near hollow trees.
A roll to receive a log is done every 4 game ticks when chopping. The chance to successfully chop is affected by the axe used and Woodcutting level: better axes and a higher woodcutting level increases the likelihood of successfully receiving a log.

- Beaver - Hollow trees have a chance to drop the beaver Woodcutting pet. At level 45 Woodcutting there is a 1 in 213,242 chance to receive the beaver and a 1 in 211,892 chance at level 99.
- Bird nest – There is 1 in 256 chance to drop from Hollow trees. The bird nest will be dropped on the ground and will despawn after two minutes if not picked up. The Bird nest will be given in place of bark.
- Clue nest – Hollow trees have a chance of dropping any tier of clue nest, based on Woodcutting level, the tree's base chance, and access to the reward tiers of Combat Achievements. See Clue nest § Woodcutting rates for a detailed breakdown.
