An ironwood tree is a lumber tree requiring level 80 Woodcutting to cut, granting 175 Woodcutting experience for each set of ironwood logs received.

Ironwood trees are found on Sunbleak Island, requiring level 72 Sailing to access. An ironwood tree will fall after 400 ticks (4 minutes) of chopping. At 99 Woodcutting, with a dragon axe, roughly 75,000 experience per hour can be gained from chopping ironwood trees. This can increase up to 100,000 experience per hour with a crystal felling axe and forester's rations.

Mechanics

A roll to receive a log is done every 4 game ticks when chopping. The chance to successfully chop is affected by the axe used and Woodcutting level: better axes and a higher woodcutting level increase the likelihood of successfully receiving a log.
